[Ganyu Cosplay] Genshin Impact: Ganyu maid Costume Convention Photos from Firefly ACG Expo

Preparing this Ganyu maid outfit for Firefly ACG Expo involved a lot of homework on the details. To capture that dignified yet playfully charming aura, the neckline combines white ruffled lace splicing black fabric. The golden bell at the chest is the crowning touch of the entire outfit, chiming softly as I move. Embroidered on the apron is a white pocket reading 'Love me', with custom lettering and a little blue heart beside it. The wig was trimmed into a fluffy short bob with gently curled ends; the ahoge at the crown took quite a while to fix with hairspray, and paired with the red-and-black mechanical hair accessories, the overall palette was firmly established. The makeup featured violet contacts and soft pink eyeshadow, rendering my gaze gentler before the camera.

Wearing this outfit on-site at the convention definitely tested my stamina—especially paired with openwork Black stockings and round-toe high heels, standing for a long time made my legs truly ache. Yet putting on this ensemble made me stand notably straighter. The serving tray in my hands was the soul prop of the entire styling; holding it required slight arm tension paired with an upright spine for the movements to feel natural. The tray was quite large, so finding the exact center of gravity while balancing it one-handed was essential, or else it would look stiff in the frame.

The photographer was fantastic at scouting angles during the shoot. The blue wall panels with sporty motifs in the background provided a color contrast that highlighted the character's blue, white, and black palette. To capture flattering leg lines, I explored several different poses: holding the skirt hem slightly sideways showcased the volume and lace layering while displaying the texture of the Black stockings and the silhouette of the heels. Another pose with one leg raised conveyed a lighthearted, brisk feel; balancing my center of gravity took considerable effort, but the resulting cuts looked wonderfully lively. In a closer shot partially concealing my body behind the tray, locking my eyes straight into the lens with focused concentration added dramatic tension. The interplay of openwork Black stockings and the voluminous skirt created great visual proportions, which was one reason I chose this combination.

The entire shoot went smoothly, and capturing these clean shots amidst the bustling convention crowds was no small feat. The fabric had some thickness yet remained breathable enough to keep my energy up over several hours. Convention lighting can be messy, but between the bright background panels and ambient venue light, the final cuts met expectations, cleanly preserving character gestures and garment details. The biggest challenge was styling the wig—light blue wigs look flat easily without proper care. I spent a long time crimping and volumizing the roots with a flat iron and sculpting defined layers with setting spray. The placement of hair accessories needed repeated adjustments to ensure the red-and-black accents were visible from any angle. Many fellow fans came over for photos, which was heartwarming. To accommodate everyone, I did my best to keep my poses with the tray and skirt precise. Standing on concrete floors all day in heels and Black stockings was painful on the soles of my feet, but seeing the camera previews made everything worthwhile. The contrast between openwork Black stockings and the grand skirt looked exceptionally textured in the final photos, perfectly fulfilling the original goal of this styling in Genshin Impact.
