When shooting this Ganyu Cosplay series, the core focus was balancing the character's signature elegance with a touch of sweetness. Because this was a studio reshoot following the Firefly ACG Expo, I wanted to craft a dreamy, serene ambiance to genuinely hone every detail. The tailoring and textiles were quite demanding on body proportions: a form-fitting bodice accented with silver embroidery and a black heart cutout lining, contrasted by layered, fluffy white-and-blue gradient ruffles on the lower half. To achieve an airy, weightless look without feeling heavy, the skirt used translucent tulle infused with pearlescent finishes along the hem, creating gorgeous light refraction under direct key lights. The blue-violet gradient wig and red-and-black horns faithfully recreated her iconic character design.
To highlight her charm from every angle, I put careful thought into my poses. For instance, in the shot sitting on the bench with legs crossed and angled slightly sideways, the goal was to leverage the interplay of light on the strapped white stockings and blue-flower platform high heels to elongate leg proportions. Gestures like resting my chin on my hand or placing a palm over my chest were framed to showcase the upper-body silhouette, keeping the visual focus anchored on the character. The studio set provided immense support—the reflective mirror floor bounced back the skirt tiers and leg contours, enriching the overall composition. White Roman columns, blue hydrangea bushes, and a white wrought-iron bench established a lovely cool-toned setting that flattered the blue dress seamlessly.
During the session, I also played with flicking the sleeve ribbons to introduce dynamic motion and breathing room into the frame, preventing rigid poses. The over-the-shoulder glance was equally demanding: keeping my posture tall and gaze focused was essential to capture that quiet coolness laced with gentle charm. This ensemble received wonderful praise from fellow fans at the convention, who loved the staging and color palette. For me, every cosplay photoshoot offers a chance to feel the magic of character, costume, and setting coming together. Sorting through these convention photos took considerable curation, especially choosing shots that displayed the gown's architecture while flattering the leg and necklines. The selected cover image harmonizes the relaxed ease of a seated pose with the alluring detail of the strapped stockings, while the flowing ribbons prevent the frame from feeling cramped. Huge thanks to the photographer for patiently guiding reflector angles and timing the ribbon tosses—these nuances defined the final polish. I hope everyone enjoys this heartfelt Ganyu fan-work!
