When shooting these photos of the Pajama Rem styling from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, the primary goal was highlighting the character's moe charm in a lazy, cozy atmosphere. For the outfit, I chose the classic blue-and-gray striped plush hooded jacket paired with a black slip dress underneath, topped with a large ribbon bow on the head. A lighter blue shade was chosen for the hair, requiring root styling in advance to keep the bangs naturally curved. To match the character's eye texture, blue colored contacts were selected, while the eye makeup accentuated a subtle blush beneath the corners of the eyes to make the gaze appear more lively and gentle on camera.
In terms of composition, the photographer used a wide aperture, making the background almost entirely blurred to better emphasize the character's facial expressions. The first two photos are frontal half-body shots—one featuring a gentle smile with a tilted head clutching the jacket lapel, and the other making a hand-heart gesture, where the blurred hands actually serve as the foreground, enhancing the dreamy quality of the frame. My personal favorite is the third photo: turning around to look back while hugging a white fabric pillow. This glance-back angle wonderfully displays the straps along the back, and the natural light transmission lends a translucent glow to the whole figure, which is why I chose it for the cover. Although not paired with stockings, the drape of the black dress and the open-back details exude a quiet, subtly playful allure.
The theme this time was Confession. In portraying this scene, I deliberately minimized complex body movements, relying more on micro-expressions and eye contact to convey the feeling of wanting to confess feelings while holding back a touch of bashfulness. Rather than striking exaggerated poses, this tender, affectionate gaze better aligns with the pure, straightforward love the character embodies. The fabric was very comfortable, allowing me to feel as relaxed during the shoot as if wearing loungewear at home. To ensure the texture on the plush jacket remained crisp, the lighting angles were deliberately fine-tuned. Regarding the gentle yet resilient depth of the character's heart, I experimented extensively with breathing and pauses in motion. For example, the slight head-lowering gesture in the first photo required careful control over jaw tension to avoid unflattering distortion. Although the shoot was somewhat demanding, bringing out this adorable Pajama Rem cosplay style so cleanly made every effort feel worthwhile.
