[Columbina Cosplay] White Dove in a Cage: Quiet Moments of a Genshin Impact Ethereal Girl

This photoshoot features Columbina's blue-and-white outfit from Genshin Impact. The costume has many layers and ribbons, so before shooting, each layer of fabric had to be carefully arranged to ensure it didn't look bulky on camera—especially the huge white bow on the chest and the cut-out sleeve design, which needed to feel light while reflecting the character's ethereal essence. The wing hair ornaments on the head and the red-purple highlights on the sides are the soul of this look, focusing visual attention under the studio's soft lights. The wig was styled with just the right fluffiness without sticking to the scalp.

For the shooting scene, we chose a huge white birdcage structure surrounded by white gauze curtains and a vintage-style classical Roman pillar base. The white dove was the highlight prop of this Cosplay photography session. During the shoot, I was actually quite worried it would fly away or mess up the wig, but it was much calmer than imagined. When the white dove rested on my palm, I had to adjust my posture quickly without startling it. Since I was wearing an off-the-shoulder outfit, the upper body lines were fully displayed, so special attention had to be paid to arm postures to look natural rather than cramped.

This shoot specially emphasized the leg lines and ribbon design, which are iconic elements of Columbina's outfit. White ribbons crisscrossed around the calves, paired with a barefoot look, stretching the overall proportion in the frame. A side-sitting pose best showcased the drape of the skirt and the extension of the legs. The photographer used high-key lighting techniques; the overall light was bright with no harsh dark areas, making the blue-and-white fabric look particularly translucent, with the thin gauze skirt showing great light transmission.

Moving around in this costume was actually not very convenient because the material was quite stiff, limiting the range of motion. Thus, many stretched poses in the photos were accomplished through minor local adjustments. The crystal chandelier behind and the white metal chains in the foreground provided great background depth. Without overly complex sets, relying simply on large areas of white and a touch of blue constructed the desired atmosphere. During post-editing, high clarity and cleanliness were deliberately maintained without cluttering color modifications, mainly to emphasize this pure, dreamlike vibe as an Ethereal girl.

Shooting this Genshin Impact Columbina Cosplay really tested styling abilities. Small details like feathers, ribbons, and jewelry look beautiful, but on site they required repeated checking to prevent flipping or tilting. However, I really love the final presentation—the combination of the white dove and the cage brought the atmosphere straight to 100%. This kind of clean, cool-toned work has always fit this character's traits very well, serving as a summary of my recent shoots. Overall, it was a very smooth and satisfying photoshoot experience.
