[Columbina Cosplay] Genshin Impact: A Serene Encounter Amid Blue-and-White Floral Waves and Doves

For this shoot of Genshin Impact's Columbina, I worked with Nianling Photography Studio during our session for Photography in Meizhou to settle on a floral landscape woven from deep blues and pure whites. The set design featured a minimalist pitch-black backdrop with white Roman pillars, surrounded by dense bioluminescent blue hydrangeas and double-petaled blooms. White petals scattered across the floor stood in stark contrast against the dark background, perfectly capturing her mysterious, ethereal temperament.

The costume utilized soft layers of tulle and chiffon with a striking blue-to-white gradient. An off-shoulder cut with flutter sleeves accentuated the neck and shoulder lines, while white vine-like leg wraps added a lightweight feel. The black wig with pinkish-red gradient tips was carefully layered to fit beneath her hat and feather hairpieces. We spent considerable time adjusting the lighting, ultimately choosing a single overhead top light—shining down like a stage spotlight—to immerse all background elements into darkness and pull total focus onto the character and the white dove.

Working with a live dove proved to be a delicate challenge. Unlike a static prop, it required patience to guide the bird onto my arm and capture the exact moment its wings spread. After several attempts, we snapped remarkably natural interactive shots. Post-processing preserved strong contrast to highlight the dramatic interplay of light and shadow, while subtle translucent glowing wing effects elevated the ethereal mood.

While this solo finished set turned out wonderfully, I've been nurturing a duo concept for my next project: pairing Little Dove with Marionette. Combining Marionette's eerie puppet textures with this serene realm of white doves and blue blossoms would create an incredible narrative tension. I'm already storyboarding dual poses and interactions, and I can't wait to bring that vision to life!
