[M3 cosplay] Arknights 7th Anniversary: The Perfect Collision of Outdoor Techwear and Green-Black Color Scheme

Just finished organizing this set of photos. Riding on the festive atmosphere of Arknights' 7th anniversary, this M3 cosplay set came together incredibly efficiently. Instead of choosing an indoor studio shoot, we took it directly to the outdoor city greenways and architectural spaces, trying to capture a more authentic and spontaneous sense of combat.

The entire outfit is actually packed with details. The most eye-catching part is the black-and-green mechanical cat ear headpiece at the crown, which has stiff internal supports for structure, paired with slightly wavy long black hair and a vibrant neon green highlight that perfectly aligns with the character's iconic traits. The glossy, oversized black jacket is the soul of this styling; it actually carries quite a bit of weight, especially when styled in that half-worn, off-the-shoulder cape style, which took quite a while to adjust for folds and to make the green inner lining pop, but once styled, that sleek, rebellious visual effect came out instantly. The silver metal ring accessory at the chest along with the blue connecting parts, paired with various black techwear straps and side-release buckles, fully dials up the character's sci-fi tech aesthetic.

For the lower half, I chose a green-and-black bodysuit paired with black chunky-soled motorcycle boots, which keeps the silhouette feeling lightweight while adding a sense of power to the overall look. Many of the actions in this set of photos were actually captured spontaneously on the go, such as the gesture of shaking open the jacket while lifting one leg, and the interaction with that green LED sword. This sword was already very bright under the outdoor natural light; if shot during dusk or night, the glowing effect would definitely be even more explosive.

Speaking of the day of the shoot, I actually stumbled upon this location by accident. The background is a slightly industrial-style building exterior wall, flanked by a massive patch of green bushes. Since it happens to be the 7th anniversary, fellow enthusiasts everywhere are sharing their own works, and I wanted to use this milestone to record my own understanding of this design. During the shoot, passersby would occasionally cast curious glances, but more people just thought the styling was super cool. Actually, during an outdoor shoot, the hardest part to control is the natural light. A slightly off angle will cast harsh shadows on the face, so the timing of the shots highly tests the photographer's on-the-spot reactions. In this set, several angles captured the cool, desolate look and confidence in my gaze exceptionally well.

Before putting on this set, I also spent quite a bit of time designing the makeup. The focus of the eye makeup lies in the cyan-blue contact lenses that echo the hair highlights, along with deep, defined eyeliner, making my gaze look much sharper. Combined with a slightly glossy lip finish, it perfectly presents that complex vibe of being solemn yet carrying a touch of playfulness. Although the materials of this outfit are indeed on the heavier side—making it extremely stuffy and hot to shoot in the summer heat—for the sake of the final images, all the effort was completely worth it. Every cosplay shoot is a concrete realization of one's understanding of the character.

This set took about a week from styling conception, preparing costumes and props, to the final shoot and photo selection. Outdoor shooting offers an irreplaceable texture and realism. The fusion of green vegetation and black techwear outfit elements makes me feel that this presentation is highly fitting for the world view of Arknights, where wasteland and cutting-edge technology coexist.
