[Columbina Cosplay] Genshin Impact Fatui Damselette's Eyepatch Handmade Fitting Record

This time, I'm mainly sharing the eyepatch for Columbina from Genshin Impact that I handmade using tracing paper, along with the final look when worn with the wig.

Let's talk about the blueprint first. To ensure the final dimensions fit the face properly, I first hand-drew a draft on A4 paper. The blueprint dimensions are 26cm in length and 9cm in height, a size determined after measuring against my face many times. However, because the carved mesh grid of the entire mask is rather complex, I was worried that providing only specific centimeter measurements might be confusing for fellow craft enthusiasts or friends wanting to try it out. Therefore, I've included the blueprint drafts in the photos for intuitive reference. That said, if you want to replicate it yourself, printing it directly at A4 size should be much more convenient.

Regarding materials, I experimented with many options and ultimately found tracing paper to be the most suitable. It offers a degree of translucency without being flimsy, maintaining the grid shape exceptionally well. However, tracing paper also has its tricky side: it tears easily during cutting, especially with delicate hollowed-out diamond grids requiring extreme precision and patience. I spent a long time working with a craft knife and small scissors, carefully picking out those diamond gaps one by one. When I finally cut it out and put it on my face, the fit was far better than expected, instantly creating that hazy, semi-sheer veiled look.

The first few photos were taken casually at home right after cutting the mask—completely bare-faced without wearing a wig—simply to test whether the shape fit comfortably on my face. Seeing how the mask veiled the eye area felt quite interesting at the time, so I plucked up the courage to post them as a record. It might be a bit OOC, so please consider it an archive of the crafting process and bear with me.

Later, I added the wig and full styling, as shown in the second edit picture. After putting on the wig, the character feel immediately emerged—especially the pink highlights on both sides of the wig, paired with the wing head ornament, which matched the Tracing paper mask quite harmoniously. I spent a lot of effort making this prop, working hard from drawing and cutting to fitting, striving at every step to stay true to the character's feel.

In truth, the process of DIY cosplay props is continuous trial and error. There are no overly complex techniques involved—just time and patience. Sharing the finished results today is my way of documenting the effort put into recreating this character. Seeing the Handmade mask worn on my face and capturing satisfying photos makes all the eye-straining fatigue of cutting tracing paper completely worth it.
