[Kal'tsit cosplay] Greenery and Black Dress in Times Past

Sharing some behind-the-scenes insights from the 'Times Past' photoshoot. The lighting on the day of the shoot was fantastic, with dappled tree shadows cast over the trellis, while the white architecture and greenery in the background formed a natural framing border. This costume is very meticulous in detail: the black dress fabric has an excellent texture, complemented by white ruffles and metallic cuff buckles, a brown waist pouch with chains, and a soft green bow tie accent, creating an overall tone that is both vintage and cohesive.

Securing the wig and animal ears required quite a bit of thought, as moving around outdoors surrounded by plants meant hair could easily get snagged if I wasn't careful. To align with the 'Times Past' theme, I chose relatively quiet poses: the first photo leaning beside foliage to relax the body slightly, and the second resting on the armrest of a bench with my center of gravity leaning forward and hands naturally drooping, evoking a casual, daydreaming serenity. Communication with photographer 'Wo Ye Gan Le' went smoothly throughout; he had clear ideas about composition and light capture. For instance, using a wide aperture in the second photo blurred the lawn and pillars behind me, highlighting facial expressions and costume details while perfectly keeping the subject well-balanced within the frame.

In portraying Kal'tsit, even while wearing a dress, her inherent character traits remain calm, rational, and somewhat distant. Therefore, in terms of demeanor, I kept my head slightly lowered and eyes unfocused rather than gazing directly into the lens, allowing that cool, composed aura to emerge naturally rather than looking overly posed. Although the skirt silhouette is beautiful, walking, stepping across terrain, and adjusting postures outdoors were somewhat restrictive—especially in leafy areas where avoiding snags on the hem was a constant task, a common reality whenever shooting long dress cosplay. Regarding makeup and hair: to harmonize with the white hair, eyebrows and eyeliner colors were adjusted, and the visual weight of the eyes was lowered into a half-lidded state to enhance a quiet, tranquil look.

For me, cosplaying is far more than just wearing a costume; it's about finding that fleeting moment of resonance with the character in a specific setting. This 'Times Past' concept inherently carries a gentle warmth seasoned by time, contrasting with her usual rigorous persona as a medical operator. I love the color palette of this set—the vibrant greenery forms a vivid contrast against the black-and-white dress, and the outdoor light was exceptionally welcoming. Spending time adjusting the fur collar, cuffs, and belt, discussing blocking with the photographer, immersing myself during the shoot, and finally seeing the finished photos—these experiences are the purest joy of cosplay for me.
