[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane Splendid Music: Vintage Stage Aesthetics in Black and Purple

Putting on this deep purple long dress and standing in front of the black-and-white checkered floor and red velvet curtains, I finally captured the ideal texture I envisioned for this Cheshire "Music Splendor" skin from Azur Lane. As a stickler for details, I put a lot of thought into the styling suitability before the shoot.

The outfit design's color palette is classic: large areas of deep purple silk fabric carry natural light and shadow transitions, while golden tassels at the neckline and crisscross strap designs set a gorgeous yet slightly languid tone for the entire garment. The addition of a black fur shawl and long gloves maximizes the character's opulence, perfectly balanced out by the dual-toned light blue-grey highlighted wig to offset the heaviness of dark clothing.

The shooting environment was set in an indoor studio adorned with a vintage grand piano, a gramophone, and classic leather chairs, where this classical ambiance collided strongly with the character's concept to create dramatic flair. The moment I stepped into black high heels and slipped into black garter stockings as part of this Stocking outfit, I felt the character's soul was fully present. This design combining a high-slit dress with garter stockings visually elongates the leg lines smoothly; to showcase the dress's advantages before the lens, I experimented extensively with pose design for this Vintage portrait set.

From standing with a cat-eared cane, to casually crossing legs while seated on a vintage leather chair, to looking back over my shoulder at the camera in front of the piano, the entire shoot was exhausting yet packed with fun. Posing in a high-slit dress requires high mindfulness regarding accidental exposure and body posture, demanding constant attention to posture and the drape of the fabric. Meanwhile, the veil and flower ornaments on the wide-brimmed hat often interfered with eye makeup visibility, which severely tested communication and synergy between the photographer and me.

As a cosplayer who frequently frequents ancient Chinese and retro-themed shoots, I personally favor styling infused with vintage jazz vibes. It requires not only accurate attire, but also a relaxed aura—like an illusionist truly residing in a last-century concert hall. The makeup attempted this time was relatively clean, focusing primarily on lip color and defining eye contours, striking the right balance against the intricate costume.

From selecting a fitting retro location early on to adjusting costume details in post-production, a great deal of effort went into restoring this work. The subtle jacquard patterns and golden sash on the dark long dress stood out wonderfully under film-textured lighting. I thoroughly enjoyed this immersive cosplay process, briefly embodying this elegant and mysterious character in reality, wearing champagne heels and sleek stockings, discovering the character's unique aesthetic between musical notes and black-and-white keys. I look forward to challenging different outfit styles with a deeper understanding of characters next time.
