[Columbina Cosplay] Serene Moments of Ice Crystal Prisms and Blue-and-White Tulle

Doing this Genshin Impact cosplay of Columbina, the biggest difficulty wasn't how complex the outfit was, but how to materialize that soft, translucent, and slightly detached vibe of the character in a real-world setting. For this shoot, I chose a scene dominated by pure white and light blue cool tones to match. Holographic crystal prisms and soft white tulle formed the main tone, contrasting against the black-to-purple gradient wig and the red smudging around the eye corners, giving the entire image an ethereal, ice-like quality.

Regarding makeup and hair, this wig was specially customized by a craftsman. The magenta gradient at the ends was dyed later, yielding high color purity under cool light without being overly jarring. The hairstyle retained middle-parted bangs and layered bangs; the bright-colored horizontal side-highlights on both cheeks were the soul of this look, breaking facial symmetry and making the contour look more three-dimensional and lively. For makeup, I chose matte base makeup combined with fine loose powder to effectively avoid oily shine under high-intensity lighting equipment. Eyebrows were naturally drawn following bone structure with light powder base and a touch of brown for hair texture. The eyeliner was not deliberately elongated, paired with earth-tone eyeshadow to make the gaze look softer yet focused, achieving a refined Anime-style makeup look.

Outfit details were especially crucial. First were the complex layered structures at the neckline and the gold-and-silver interwoven star emblem on the chest. The emblem's interior combined hard resin with metal pieces; although it looked weighty, we used lightweight inner lining during wearing to reduce long-term shoulder pressure. The off-the-shoulder design showcased shoulder and neck lines beautifully, creating a visual extension toward the white segmented arm cuffs. Made of skin-fitting elastic fabric, the arm cuffs stayed secure during arm movements while offering a layered illusion of fine wrapped threads under light.

The lower body skirt hem consisted of multiple layers of light tulle. The outer layer was aqua-blue translucent tulle without color distortion, while the inner layer was slightly glossy white satin, allowing natural wave-like curls when seated—extremely flowing. The legs were decorated with custom white tights featuring crisp gray cross-hatched geometric patterns, adding design flair while establishing a unified visual system with the light-colored high heels featuring metal buckles.

The holographic crystal prisms in the scene were a major highlight. To capture the rainbow light spots refracting off the prisms, the photographer used a high-power strobe as the key light directed at the prisms, complemented by two softboxes in front to ensure uniform facial illumination and three-dimensional features. When light spots fell onto the pure white gauze curtains, it created a magically dreamy light effect—a scene needing minimal retouching as it inherently radiated aura.

When shooting seated poses, special attention was needed for body balance. Because the skirt had noticeable weight and thickness, bending legs directly affected skirt placement, requiring angle adjustments to avoid exposure while showcasing leg lines perfectly. Gently folding my hands over my chest and tilting my head down slightly toward my hands conveyed a calm, contemplative state.

For cosplay, I always believe pre-shoot preparations are far more important than post-production effects. From selecting fabric textures to setting up every small prop, everything serves to perfect the character's three-dimensional presence. This time, through cool-toned staging and geometric element echoes in the outfit, the final images yielded a deeply comforting transparency, fulfilling a few of my personal obsessions regarding character creation.
