[Ganyu Cosplay] The Tenderness of a Thousand-Year Vigil, Turning into the Serenity Here

Putting on this Ganyu outfit and standing in the set, my state of mind actually quieted down as well. This shoot hoped to break everyone's fixed perception of Ganyu's usual dignified image, attempting to incorporate some extended movements with the aesthetic feel of ballet elements. Utilizing the lightweight gauze texture of the costume, I did my best to showcase a serene and slightly melancholic, gentle atmosphere.

In this set of photos, I deliberately adjusted my center of gravity to fit the theme of "a thousand-year vigil," letting my body language convey the unique calmness of the character. The material of this blue-and-purple gradient dress is truly wonderful; under the cool-toned light source of the studio, it glints with a delicate pearlescent layer. Combined with the matching small black beast horns hair accessory on my head, as well as the white Roman columns, blue silk flowers, and those iconic blue butterflies in the scene, the entire frame perfectly restores the ethereal and translucent visual experience of Liyue's illuminated beast.

When shooting such a classic character, the hardest part is often capturing the expressions. It needs to align with the gentle and kind personality in the Genshin Impact character design, while avoiding making the frame look too rigid. While shooting that close-up of relaxing with my eyes closed, I tried to slow down my breathing completely and focused my attention on how to drive the folds of the gauze skirt through my stretched limbs, so that the captured dynamics would look natural and vivid. This is also the insight I groped out in portraying this character—the combination of expression and body movements is what gives the character a soul.

Every time I prepare for a character like Ganyu, adjusting the makeup and accessories takes a lot of effort. Seeing the light and shadow refracting between the skirt hem in the final photos, I feel that all the design and styling refinements were worth it. I hope this set of photos from this Genshin Impact cosplay creation can present a more multi-dimensional side of Liyue's illuminated beast, bringing everyone a feel of Ganyu from a different dimension.
