For this Komeiji Koishi cosplay shoot, everything from initial planning to on-site execution revolved around a dark, peeking atmosphere. For props, a vibrant bouquet of flowers was paired with a stiff wide-brimmed hat, while the wig featured a gradient transitioning from fluorescent green to blue, offering a subtle reflective sheen under dim light that matched the character's mystical aura. The outfit was a lace-detailed dress accented by an oversized orange bow, forming a striking warm-cool contrast with the green hair.

The shooting location was very dark, so I worked closely with the photographer's lighting setup. The key light was cast from the side, allowing natural shadows to fall beneath the hat brim and sculpt facial contours. A dark textured backdrop with scratches was chosen, with post-processing darkening the edges and brightening the subject to establish spatial depth. Since the theme was 'Right Behind You Now,' the posing specifically involved leaning sideways behind a wall, turning my head to stare straight into the lens to intensify that pure, Unconscious gaze.

Throughout the shoot, poses and angles were continuously fine-tuned. The large hat was quite heavy, leaving my neck sore by the second half, but I tested multiple takes to capture the character's mysterious demeanor. Regarding the Unconscious setting, I kept my body relaxed and casual while using focused eye contact to create contrast. Photography director Yansi ooo demonstrated superb control over light and shadow—especially the translucent fluorescence of the foreground flowers, which required constant adjustments of lens aperture and focal length to capture properly.

In post-processing, we avoided excessive flashy filters, focusing mainly on color temperature and contrast to highlight the luster of the green hair and the vividness of the flowers. This shoot not only recreated the visual styling but also explored the expressive potential of Touhou Project characters through Dark style cosplay. For Komeiji Koishi, this aesthetic delivers a uniquely compelling visual experience.

I sweated quite a bit that day due to the thick layers of the dress and petticoat, but seeing the garment's texture merge with the lighting made every effort worthwhile. Reviewing the photos, what feels most precious is capturing those fleeting, candid eye contacts. That sensation of peering out from the shadows perfectly echoes the title's mood. Given the chance in the future, I'd love to use such crisp, cool lighting in Anime-style photography to interpret other classic Touhou Project characters.
