[Justina Gu Cosplay] Ice Fairy in NARAKA: BLADEPOINT

The overall plan for shooting this set of Justina Gu cosplay from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT actually began with refining props and makeup right after deciding on the character look. To restore her cool, serene, and mysterious ethereal temperament as closely as possible, I specifically picked a silver-white base wig with slight curls, paired with translucent dark-red contact lenses to enhance the depth of facial features. The forehead ornament at the center of the brows, dangling a teardrop-shaped sapphire, serves as one of the key visual anchors of this Cosplay outfit. In practice, it tilted more easily than expected due to stray hair strands, so the makeup artist and I repeatedly adjusted it several times to balance its fit on my forehead with the flow of the hairstyle.

The fabric combinations of the outfit were the highlight of this styling. This look utilized a large amount of semi-transparent tulle fabric. Although the cloud-like sleeves around the shoulders and arms look beautifully ethereal, keeping track of the tulle's drape during movements required great care. The main color palette features pale white and sky blue, with a bright blue sash at the waist elevating overall body proportions, while spliced magenta and tender green color blocks along with pearl bead strands add a vibrant touch of life to the originally cool palette. Metallic accessories on the costume, such as golden vine bangles on the arms and golden flower pendants at the waist, required special attention during post-processing light and shadow corrections to prevent harsh reflections in sunlight from breaking the soft atmosphere.

The pair of ear ornaments by my ears—resembling ice crystals or flying fish fins—serves as the most recognizable elf-like feature of this outfit. Although they added weight to my ears and neck, I tried my best to ignore these physical burdens during shooting, focusing instead on making my gaze and hand gestures look more relaxed and extended. During outdoor photography, light conditions varied constantly, so rather than intentionally chasing sharp light-and-dark contrast, this photo set relied more on naturally scattered soft light to achieve translucency. Raising my right hand to block my forehead was a pose decided after discussing with the photographer; this posture not only showcased the flowing texture of the arm tulle beautifully, but also used the shading of hair strands and hand to form a quiet, peaceful shadow across my face, perfect for Ancient-style fantasy framing.

When portraying Justina Gu, I sensed her core emotion to be restraint rather than boisterous martial arts flair. The coolness in her temperament is not merely provided by clothing fabrics, but needs to be conveyed through eye placement and slightly downturned eyeliner. Therefore, throughout the shoot, I kept my facial expressions calm and even, avoiding dramatic emotional swings, striving through this relaxed yet focused stillness to convey her aloof yet inwardly resolute state within the vast Xianxia style cosplay universe.

In post-processing, I mainly performed basic skin translucency optimizations and unified the background color temperature, without excessively changing raw picture textures. The color saturation of the garment itself was already rich enough, and overly sharp color grading would instead destroy the hazy beauty of the tulle. Although the entire shooting process was somewhat exhausting due to the weight of headpieces and long hair, seeing the light halo forming through the tulle on my arm in final photos made all early detail adjustments completely worthwhile. This stands as a record of this cosplay creation, and I hope the character's demeanor delivers a fresh experience to everyone.
