Today, I brought Shen Miao's pink bunny-ear look to the convention floor. Hair and makeup started past five in the morning; to recreate the sweet charm of this look, the pink wig was deliberately styled with a curling iron into textured waves, with the roots treated for volume and hold to ensure it wouldn't deform in crowded halls. The eye makeup used pale pink as a base, deepened at the outer corners with plum-red, and featured fine glitter flecks pressed beneath the eyes. Paired with a pink choker and pearl chains, the entire color palette achieved tight harmony.
The wardrobe details put handcrafting to the test. Lace trim and strap ribbons snag easily, demanding careful steps—especially the mesh sleeves, which can catch on passersby in dense crowds. Securing the bunny-ear headband and bows took a generous amount of bobby pins, with hair padding inserted underneath to maintain volume at the crown. Temperatures inside the hall ran very high today; although the outfit is relatively breezy, preserving a flawless makeup base meant ducking into the restroom periodically to gently press away sweat with tissues, while powder touch-ups required utmost precision to avoid disturbing the glitter beneath my eyes.
During a quick breather just now, I raised my phone to snap a few selfies in a less crowded corner. Seeing attendees wandering in the background gave the frames an authentic touch that bridged the 2D-3D divide. Flashing a peace sign was an instinctive gesture—I truly love this spirited look, which feels so attuned to Shen Miao's nimble, clever persona. Playing Shen Miao in NARAKA: BLADEPOINT made me fall in love with her personality; bringing out this pink bunny-ear design was all about highlighting her blend of adorable sweetness and feisty tsundere charm.
On the makeup side, the foundation aimed for a matte, translucent radiance, as an overly dewy base can look puffy when paired with pink eye tones. Highlighter was placed at the nose tip and cheekbones to boost youthful charm. The lipstick favored a glossy red-pink, grounding the pink scheme and anchoring visual focus on the face. Long press-on nails made handling props and adjusting hair rather tricky, yet I kept them on for styling fidelity, carefully holding my phone even for casual selfies.
Convention photos truly challenge a cosplayer's adaptability, as venue lighting is complex and candid selfies often best reflect one's genuine condition. Rather than leaning on heavy post-processing, I strive to dial in peak condition on-site. When smoothing the skirt hem and sleeve mesh, I had to ensure the styled wave contours remained undisturbed. Cosplaying is always a dual endurance test of patience and stamina: from garment sourcing and makeup tests to on-site presentation, every step demands dedication, with prop positioning and wardrobe maintenance planned well in advance.
I'm fairly pleased with how this styling turned out today, even if minor details could be tuned further—such as cinching the choker slightly tighter or micro-adjusting the drop length of the pearl chain. Meeting fellow fans at the convention who recognized the character, posing for photos, and chatting together brought immense joy. I hope to come away with lovely Convention photos today, steadily building experience to bring even sharper form, innovative styling, and refined makeup to my next character projects.
