[Helektra Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail — The Real & Surreal Experience of Late-Night Photoshoots

Holding this exaggeratedly styled staff and silver long sword, I finished this Helektra cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail on the streets late at night. The story behind it is actually super casual: a friend randomly pushed this white-to-blue gradient wig onto me. After getting it, I fell into deep confusion—how on earth was I supposed to smooth out and pack up this fluffy wig with obvious highlights so it could fit back into my bag? Looking at its messy strands, I decided to just go all out with full makeup, put on this outfit, and head out to indulge my urge to shoot.

First, let's talk about the details of this look. To fit the character's mysterious and ethereal vibe, the wig was chosen in a cooler white tone, with light blue highlights at the ends and crown, complemented by a few scattered pearl accessories that subtly reflected light under the streetlamps. For makeup, I specifically wore highly saturated icy blue contacts and accented the under-eye and outer corner areas with tiny rhinestones, which caught a subtle shimmer in the dim night light. The black rigid choker on my neck paired with a pearl chain and that eye-catching white shell-shaped pendant is one of the centerpieces of the entire look, giving off a cool yet slightly playful demeanor as soon as it's worn. The top features a light-colored base lining combined with semi-transparent tulle, with the geometric cross pattern on the chest faithfully restored, and the sheer sleeves displaying subtle fabric textures. What caught my eye the most was the semi-transparent material on the legs combined with crisscrossing dark leg straps—in low-angle shots, as a stocking outfit, it not only elongates leg proportions nicely, but also greatly enhances the overall layer of the design.

Speaking of the shooting environment, the whole thing was truly casual and surreal. Since there was no pre-arranged backdrop, I just grabbed the huge staff and improvised on the late-night streets. The first photo was shot from a squatting angle on the paved sidewalk, with a green shared bike, an electric scooter, and randomly placed plastic bags on the ground right behind me. This kind of mundane urban setting without any deliberate scene setup gave me an unexpected sense of contrast, bringing a wonderfully down-to-earth feel to this seemingly gorgeous anime-style fashion outfit. I tried my best to keep my posture and gaze calm while holding the staff, hoping to capture the character's serene aloofness unaffected by external distractions.

The second photo was a quick indoor selfie taken during a break. With a red indoor ceiling and green plants in the background, the light's color temperature was completely different from outdoors, feeling much softer. This perspective clearly highlights the pearl texture of the necklace and the light and shadow details on the face. However, I personally feel that among the whole set, the squatting composition in the first photo showcases the comprehensive elements of the outfit more effectively—including the staff length, skirt hem, and full leg decorations—while placing the character right in the center without any cramped cutting.

Although the whole process felt chaotic and even a bit messy—like having to grip the staff tightly while trying to prevent the wind from blowing the wig out of place—the final photos still met my expectations. As a spur-of-the-moment casual cosplay piece, the detailed textures of this gear were preserved wonderfully in front of the camera. After wrapping up the shoot, the biggest challenge turned out to be fighting the fluffiness of this messy wig and figuring out how to pack it into the bag.
