The crowd at Bilibili World (BW) was absolutely packed today, so carving out a spot with a clean background and balanced illumination to shoot this purple-and-black Witch cosplay concept took serious persistence. The magic staff in my hand is genuinely heavy—the intricate geometric cage atop the crown was fabricated from solid acrylic and wood, leaving my arms aching after hoisting it all day.

This ensemble features an immense number of layers. The black inner corset had to be cinched with considerable force to achieve that sculpted waistline. Layered above is an asymmetric white chiffon skirt, enveloped by a dark outer robe embroidered with silvery patterning. Both the hemline and sleeves embrace asymmetric tailoring; the voluminous flare sleeves in particular look stunning on camera, yet easily snagged passersby in packed aisles, forcing me to tread carefully. The purple blossoms on the witch hat and the dark filigree creeping up the pointed crown are my favorite touches. For the wig, I selected a pale silver-violet tone styled with neat blunt bangs and long straight locks, paired with contacts smudged in purplish-pink gradients to radiate a luminous, ethereal clarity under the strobes.

Lighting across the BW expo halls was notoriously complex, dominated by top-down downlights that cast awkward shadows across facial planes. To accentuate this dark-sorcery styling, we scouted a booth bathed in ambient purple neon, utilizing a wide aperture to melt surrounding crowds into a smooth blur. The photographer directed my gaze slightly upward or tilted subtly downward to evoke a serene, enigmatic aura. Photos 6 and 7 were candid captures—the wind slightly warped the brim of the oversized hat while I wielded the staff, organically introducing a touch of kinetic mystery.

Beyond basic standing postures holding the staff, I experimented with spellcasting gestures extending fingertips outward or resting a hand against the hip. Because the staff is quite tall, angling the body sideways better showcased the skirt's geometric patterns alongside the sleek contours of the Black stockings. The full-length framing in Photo 5, with the staff anchored at my side, balanced the gown's silver scrollwork and dark stockings to perfection, harmonizing overall vertical proportions.

With so many fine details, dressing and undressing required a teammate's assistance throughout the day. While the wig looked gorgeous, walking the convention floor for hours grew warm and stuffy. Still, seeing the chiaroscuro and atmospheric depth realized in these Convention photos made all that physical exertion worthwhile. Packing up and heading home now—already looking forward to preparing a brand new concept for the next expo.
