[Miyamoto Musashi Cosplay] Fate/Grand Order 10th Anniversary Project: Seaside Diary in Wakayama Shirahama

Bringing my Miyamoto Musashi cosplay gear, I arrived at the second stop of the Fate/Grand Order 10th Anniversary project "Over the same sky" newspaper series shoot: Wakayama Shirahama. Before coming, I didn't have overly high expectations and thought of it as just a regular white beach check-in spot, but standing on Shirarahama Beach made me realize how underinformed I was. The white sand was soft, fine, and clean, and most importantly, the clear sea water had an incredibly healing shade of blue. The sound of gentle waves weaving with the ocean breeze provided a fantastic atmosphere for this outdoor shoot. For this trip, I chose Miyamoto Musashi's classic look, pairing pale pink short hair with blue contact lenses to create a visual texture that blends cool charm with lively energy.

For clothing, I opted for a red off-the-shoulder short-sleeved top to add a relaxed summer vibe, paired with black raw-edge shorts and black ankle boots. Overall, it retained a swordsman's sharp feel while fitting the beach vacation ambience perfectly. The metallic buckle belt cinched at my waist not only refined my waistline but also made the entire outfit look more structured. Paired with her two iconic red-and-yellow samurai swords, moving across the beach and shallow waters made it easy to quickly find good angles to exert force. Because this shoot took place on a sandy beach, we had to carefully consider our positioning to ensure we didn't disrupt the natural background while preventing seawater from wetting the props, so we put a lot of thought into camera composition.

A special thanks goes to photographer Teppan Squid Man for this Cosplay photography session; his ability to capture candid action shots keeps getting stronger. He utilized various high and low angles to segment the frame space—like a selfie shot from a high angle and a dynamic action shot of raising the sword in seawater, both testing the photographer's mastery of the venue. Beaches often present harsh overhead or backlighting, but through clever angles, he turned direct overhead light into soft facial illumination, showcasing my skin texture and wig translucency beautifully while making my eyes look bright and clear.

A hilarious episode occurred during the shoot: while we were filming a scene where I sat on the sand eating fried noodles, a hawk suddenly swooped down from the sky, brushed right past my head, and snatched the udon noodles away, flipping the bowl and noodles onto the sand! I was completely stunned at that moment, but after regaining my composure, I felt this encounter was quite precious—after all, the odds of being robbed by a hawk aren't very high. This unexpected incident added a vivid memory to the shoot; although I didn't get to eat those noodles, it captured truly authentic facial expressions and narrative charm.

Beyond prop coordination, there were plenty of improvised actions along the shore. For example, performing a watermelon-eating scene in the shallow water—the bright green rinds and vivid red watermelon flesh looked rich and saturated under the sunlight, echoing my red top and creating a refreshing summer feel. Although many static shots look simple, they actually required constant micro-adjustments to my waist's forward lean and arm bend angles to avoid perspective distortion from the lens. Meanwhile, dynamic jumping, sword-swinging, or running shots required seamless tacit understanding between the two of us, trying multiple takes in limited time to capture the most natural landing moments.

The environment in Shirahama left a deep impression on me: distant mountains, lush green trees, white sand, and turquoise sea made for a pure backdrop that couldn't be better for a location shoot. Combined with the newspaper prop for the Fate/Grand Order 10th Anniversary, the overall sense of ritual was immense. Between takes, blowing in the sea breeze allowed me to feel a relaxation completely different from city life. For friends who love beach location shoots, Shirahama in Wakayama travel plans is definitely a highly recommended location. Despite the little interlude, both the quality of the final photos and the overall travel experience were deeply satisfying. I hope to participate in more projects that fit the characters while leaving wonderful memories in the future. Photographer Teppan Squid Man is getting more and more professional, and I'd love to collaborate with him again for similar shoots.
