[Yixuan cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero: A Cool, Aloof Cultivator in Black Techwear and Mustard Yellow

"Those who enter my mountain gate shall be freed from all worries"—this line truly fits the artistic mood of this photoshoot. This time, I'm bringing a look that blends traditional Chinese cultivator style with a modern techwear outfit. Many friends found this yellow leather short jacket paired with black leather shorts very striking, but actually, what attracts me most about this character is that unruly yet calm temperament.

Let's start with the hair and silver hair styling. The medium-length silver hair features a subtle natural messy texture and see-through bangs, adorned with a black hair accessory on the forehead to carve out the character's sharp edge. For eye makeup, I deliberately enhanced the depth around the brows and eyes, paired with a slightly scrutinizing gaze, attempting to embody that breezy yet commanding aura.

The costume details were also the result of repeated adjustments between the prop team and me. At first, I thought it was just a simple yellow, white, and black color contrast, but after receiving the physical garment, I found many clever design touches. For instance, the bright red neck accessory at the collar echoes the cold toughness of the black-yellow-white color scheme, injecting a touch of cultivator vitality. The white deep V-neck base shirt, combined with the structured black leather vest paneling, gives the upper body a sharper silhouette.

Actually, the most challenging part of the whole outfit was handling the lower body gear. The asymmetrical leg straps paired with black leather over-the-knee leg covers, plus those white strappy platform boots with ultra-thick foam soles, not only visually elongated the legs, but also gave the stance a grounded weight. During the shoot, because the soles were so thick, finding balance actually led me to a more natural way of lowering my center of gravity, making me look more composed. Especially in the second photo where I touch my shoulder with one hand, combined with a slight turn, it perfectly showed off the hollow-out details of the black leather shorts and the long leg proportions. The matte-to-glossy reflection of the leather under studio lights gave off a crisp, clean texture.

The studio process went very smoothly and was divided into two main tones. One style, as shown in photo one, used wooden fences with calligraphy paintings and wooden stools as foreground and midground, paired with cool white lighting to create a refined, ascetic vibe. The other style, used in the subsequent two photos, featured a seamless pure white background, putting the lens focus entirely on the character itself, making the garment structure, sharp tailoring, and overall aura the absolute center of the frame. The yellow talisman card held in hand in the third picture also made the character identity much clearer.

The styling logic of this look is actually very interesting: using high-saturation mustard yellow to break up the monotony of black and white, and then adding small red accessories and shoe collar details to highlight the overall visual center. This deconstructed techwear outfit infused with traditional style retains classic elegance while incorporating a new-generation street attitude. Shooting this style tests the harmony between eyes and posture—it shouldn't be too stiff or too relaxed, but rather a detached state poised between laziness and scrutiny.

Regarding the choice of camera angles, the photographer and I mainly used low-angle shots or eye-level perspectives, which better showcased the combination of platform boots and lower body gear while elongating the figure. In addition, this outfit has a lot of details—like the golden tassel pendant at the waist and the metal buckles on the gloves—which show off their layering much better at eye-level or slightly angled poses.

Reviewing the photos after the shoot, I could truly feel the faithful restoration of this character's essence. Delivering a great cosplay isn't just about putting on clothes, but modeling the character's expression and their self-possessed, powerful personality from the story. From concept art to final shots, every recreation is a delicate re-imagining. I hope to bring more challenging and visually striking works in the future.
