This final photoshoot of Onikata Kayoko mainly aims to highlight her daily yet slightly rebellious vibe in Blue Archive. The fit of the black hoodie, the red patchwork on the cuffs, and the red-and-white plaid skirt are the core of this outfit. To accurately recreate the character's details, I did my homework in advance on the hair flow of the black-and-white wig and the fastening method for the halo headpiece. On the day of the shoot, the photographer GuaGua and I chose a night setting, making this session a great practice in Urban night photography by primarily utilizing the neon lights of the streets around the shopping mall and the light trails of traffic to build an urban atmosphere.
The props covered Kayoko's classic small items, such as that can of blue drink, a transparent umbrella, and that purple handgun, which instantly brought an immersive feeling when held. In front of the lens, I tried my best not to strike forced poses intentionally, but rather simulated her lazy, casual, yet highly reliable temperament at critical moments. Whether leaning against a pillar with a glass curtain wall, squatting at a damp street corner, or even walking nonchalantly on the stairs, these life-like scenes instead better set off the character's traits. During the shooting process, we also experimented with depth of field and background blur to highlight the person, making the frame look more cinematic. After finishing this photoshoot, I feel I have gained another layer of understanding of the character. Being able to bring the daily vibe of a 2D character into a 3D real-world environment is inherently a highly fulfilling achievement.
