For this Jeanne d'Arc (Alter) look, the core focus was placed on capturing the character's cold, razor-sharp, and exquisite visual aesthetic. Since this was a live-action cosplay shoot, preliminary hair and makeup styling required substantial effort. For the makeup, to convey that detached demeanor on camera, I selected a pair of yellow-green contact lenses over a custom fair base, using a subtle pale pink lip tint to keep the primary visual focus squarely on the eyes. The wig was a shoulder-length silver-white cut; to avoid a stiff look, I carefully textured the ends and added airy volume using hair wax. The black headpiece on the forehead was custom-made with intricate hollowed filigree patterns, while black ribbons on both sides added rich dimensionality to the hairstyle. The rigid headpiece felt slightly tight after wearing it for an extended period, requiring occasional breaks during the session.
Regarding the outfit, I chose a black-and-red halter neck design. Red ties at the neckline and a decorative black chain across the chest added intricate details that elevated the character's regal presence. To showcase the uniqueness of the styling, I experimented with three distinct poses: the first involved resting one hand under the chin while gazing straight into the lens to accentuate facial contours; the second used an index finger lightly touching the chin with a more focused stare; while subsequent shots featured resting the cheek against the right hand with relaxed shoulders, subtly angling the head to cultivate a serene, aloof mood. The neck and shoulder lines are crucial to this outfit, so I paid close attention to maintaining an upright posture and open shoulders throughout the shoot.
In post-production, to keep the frame clean while enhancing three-dimensional depth, I softened skin tones, cleared out background clutter, and smoothed rough edges without warping facial proportions. The overall lighting utilized a soft diffusion effect, rendering the silver-white hair strands luminous and translucent while sharpening the contrast between the black and red garments. Among the finished frames, the cheek-resting poses are my absolute favorite due to their effortless poise. While capturing character accuracy demands meticulous attention to detail, expressing my own interpretation through the camera is deeply fulfilling—documenting this memorable shoot here.
