Today's studio shoot centered on Izumi Sagiri from Eromanga Sensei. For this session, I chose a deep navy school swimsuit emblazoned with the white katakana 'イチゴ' (Strawberry) across the chest and white piping along the sides, complemented by waist-length, violet-gray wavy hair. To stay faithful to the character's design, I pinned four bright pink bow clips into the wig. For makeup, I opted for blue contact lenses to match the original art and layered extra pink blush and eyeshadow to give my face a healthy, youthful glow. On my legs, I wore sheer nude-toned stockings (tights), which cleanly balanced the heavy visual weight of the dark swimwear against the pure white, high-key studio background while keeping leg silhouettes pristine.
This series was shot in collaboration with photographer Li. Given the solid white background and intense softbox output, the studio was bathed in brilliant light, demanding utmost precision in gaze and micro-expressions. To prevent the compositions from feeling monotonous, I rotated through sitting on a chair, leaning into pillows, and laying an orange-and-white striped swim ring across the floor as a foreground element. Although it was an indoor studio session, sustaining engaged core tension and taut leg lines burned considerable stamina. The heart of Sagiri's charm lies in an introverted yet adorably willful cuteness; hence, I favored crossing my hands, cupping my cheek, or delicately playing with my twintails. To project an organic presence before the lens, I endlessly finessed my seated poses—such as pointing my toes when crossing my legs to keep the stocking texture perfectly smooth and visually elongate my calf lines.
The entire shoot held high standards for detail, requiring repeated tweaks down to the direction of my fingertips and eye contact. While the outfit looks deceptively simple, it actually places stringent demands on body language, with unforced relaxation being the hardest element to master. Before each shutter click, I had to ensure continuity between expression and movement to avoid stiff throwaway shots. The wig's bangs also demanded constant vigilance: high-key light easily risks revealing the wig cap edge, so my hair needed continuous pinning between takes. Furthermore, nude stockings can easily lose edge definition against a white backdrop, testing lighting expertise; the photographer utilized crisp rim lighting along the side to trace out leg contours, creating distinct, dimensional layering. Even with the studio air conditioning running full blast, the persistent heat from high-output strobes combined with the full coverage of stockings kept the felt temperature surprisingly warm. While adjusting seated poses, maintaining core engagement was essential—especially when resting feet atop the edge of the floating ring, which required ankle stability to keep the toes gracefully pointed. Beyond sitting, standing and reclining poses required monitoring fabric folds to stop the swimsuit from bunching awkwardly along the abdomen. This shoot deepened my mastery of physical expression against clean white studio backgrounds, and my pacing grew progressively sharper as I settled into the rhythm of the poses.
