Bringing Galbrena from Wuthering Waves to life (Galbrena cosplay) took far more preparation time than imagined. First came styling the blue-and-white gradient wig, requiring repeated thinning and spraying to achieve natural volume and effortless texture. The costume possesses rich dimensional layering: a black leather coat trimmed with feathers, blue-and-white color-blocked sleeves, waist cutouts, and gold chains. Because of numerous tight clasps, large movements could easily distort the fit. Before shooting, I used safety pins to secure the shoulder feathers and sleeve positioning so they wouldn't shift when lifting the weapon, spending nearly half an hour adjusting everything to satisfaction. The weapon prop was remarkably heavy; holding a sword-wielding pose required continuous core engagement. My arms ached after just one close-up take, so to minimize retakes, I practiced extensively in front of a mirror beforehand to align hand angles and facial orientation.

The first half of this shoot focused on half-body shots, emphasizing a cold, sharp facial expression and focused eye contact—subtly tilting my head downward so my gaze peered through the bangs toward the lens to convey the character's commanding aura. The second half shifted to full-body standing poses. Under studio lighting, the black stockings (Stockings) and leg straps exhibited a gorgeous luster that visually elongated my silhouette. When shooting full-body, I angled my body sideways to showcase the waistline, using uneven shoulder heights to soften any stiffness and give the posture a dynamic flow. For waist close-ups, breath control kept the midsection tight, while side lighting highlighted the tailored garment silhouette.

In post-processing, we prioritized preserving authentic skin texture without over-smoothing, instead amplifying lighting contrast so the rugged leather and soft feathers created a striking juxtaposition—enhancing fidelity when translating a 2D character into the real world. Because the outfit integrated Stockings, a long skirt train, and an intricate top, mobility was rather restricted—sitting down or turning abruptly was quite cumbersome. However, seeing the results of the waist cutouts and leg straps made all the styling adjustments worthwhile. We also had to monitor reflections on the metallic accessories constantly; harsh studio lights could turn reflective metals into blown-out white glares if misangled. Furthermore, the skirt hem on the floor restricted my footing, demanding precise positioning, as stepping on it even slightly could pull on the waist chains and loosen the belt.

The shooting atmosphere was quite relaxed overall, with the photographer offering valuable composition advice, such as leveraging depth of field to blur the background and draw focus squarely to the subject. Looking at the final results, the costume details and ambient mood met all expectations. I also gained substantial experience handling such intricate, heavily accessorized cosplay outfits—especially managing the reflections of Stockings and leg accessories on camera. I look forward to exploring more styles like this in the future.
