The White studio cosplay shoot on September 22nd has concluded smoothly. This time, I'm bringing you the Xiao Qiao - Chrono Witch look from Honor of Kings. A pure white background allows all attention to focus on the character and costume details, which is why I chose a white studio.
The layers of this costume are quite rich; multi-layered white pleated skirts are paired with a halter off-the-shoulder top, and the intertwined deep purple and black geometric patterns on the chest are the finishing touches. The translucent purple cape presents a unique glossy texture under the lights. The wig has a light blue base with a pink gradient at the tips, and twin buns tied on both sides of the top with white hair accessories. Fixing this styling took quite a bit of time during the early styling and trimming stages. In terms of makeup, light blue contact lenses matched with pink blush make the witch's fantasy feel even stronger. The shoes are black and purple chunky boots, with light blue cross straps on the upper echoing the purple diamond pattern on the white socks.
During the shoot, photographer Longxiang Nightfall was very attentive to the lighting setup, making the soft light very even. Under a pure white background, if the light is not handled well, white clothes tend to blend into the background, so the photographer added rim light from the side-rear to outline the character's edges, which is also a very practical studio shooting technique. In terms of sitting postures, I tried multiple changes, from hands crossed on the chest, to one hand gently touching the chin, and then to the dynamic spell-casting posture of reaching forward, showing the witch's quiet prayer and lively spell-casting state.
Sitting on the white plush cushion actually tests the body's core strength a lot. Because the boot heels are relatively high, maintaining balance on the soft cushion is not easy. Every time I adjust my sitting posture, I check whether the layers of the skirt hem are naturally spread out. For example, the posture of crossed legs can well showcase the leg lines and short boots, while the upper body leans forward slightly, making it look more relaxed. If it's a forward-reaching action, I need to control the extension direction of my arms to ensure the hands don't block the light on the face.
From the preparation stage, the details of Xiao Qiao - Chrono Witch are quite numerous. The purple patterns on the top need to be carefully worn and straightened, and the bow neck ornament at the neckline must find the right position, otherwise it will appear asymmetric in photos. The detachable white sleeves and wrist guard design are very interesting, which can effectively increase the three-dimensional sense of the action. The cyan-blue gemstone decorated on the side of the waist also reveals a clear texture under the lighting.
The overall shooting rhythm was very compact. After four sets of actions, it was indeed a test of physical strength and concentration. As my signature hero, combining an Anime cosplay character with a professional studio shoot was a very good experience for me. The theme of this "Witch's Grand Adventure" fits the character setting very well, and I tried my best to integrate the character's agility and mystery into my gaze and actions. Through this cosplay, I also accumulated more experience in shooting color-rich characters in a pure white studio.
