The convention shots from Zhanjiang Yunxige Comic Convention are finally here! This set features my Riyo cosplay from Gachiakuta. Because the character has an intense combat style, photographer Dusk and I agreed during pre-shoot planning that we had to capture visuals packed with tension and dynamic movement. Outside the venue, we located an expansive area with steel trusses and building ruins, which fit the character's atmosphere exceptionally well. Achieving that leaping and weightless effect took immense physical effort on site: not only did I have to jump in sync with camera angles, but I also had to firmly grip the giant scissors prop. The scissors carry substantial heft; lifting them with one hand while controlling facial expressions and body posture was a major test of core strength. For the red wig, I chose fibers with good structure so the ends whipped into gorgeous arcs when the photographer captured flipping maneuvers. I also polished the costume details thoroughly—the black-and-white cropped jacket, yellow crest on the chest, along with the Black stockings and yellow leg straps, all closely adhere to the canon design. In particular, the black platform combat boots with metal buckles and rivets not only elevated the tough edge of the look but also provided steady support during jumps and mid-air stunts. The hardest part of convention hall photography is catching optimal angles within confined spaces. The low-angle framing magnified the character's imposing aura, while the vast steel dome in the background contrasted sharply with rubble on the ground, making airborne poses feel far more thrilling. It was actually quite humid during the shoot; wearing a long-sleeved jacket and over-the-knee Black stockings while jumping repeatedly drenched my clothes in sweat after just a few rounds. Yet seeing the textural quality of light and shadow alongside powerful body language in the finished photos made every drop of sweat worthwhile. This convention shoot gave me a deeper appreciation of utilizing on-site environments to sculpt a persona. I strived to convey Riyo's sharp, resilient spirit from Gachiakuta through every subtle detail. I hope this set steeped in dilapidated ruin aesthetics and raw combat power allows everyone to feel the visual world we poured our hearts into.
