[Tingyun cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Chinese-style Cosplay Ambiance of the Fugue Form

This shoot selected Tingyun's Fugue version look from Honkai: Star Rail, with a warm overall visual tone blending archaic classical beauty with Xianxia fantasy. When cosplaying this outfit, I paid great attention to layering costume accessories and overall atmosphere. The character's attire has rich layers—from the deep purple-black base fabric and golden-patterned sash to the red trim peeking from the collar, every detail had to be positioned precisely. The two fluffy animal ears atop my head are something I am extremely satisfied with; after searching for materials for a long time, I ultimately chose a texture that exhibits natural hair flow without looking heavy or collapsed, blending seamlessly with the wig without appearing awkwardly placed on top. The wig featured a distinct high-crown styling, with a spiral lock of slightly curled hair resting on my chest in front, softening facial contours while bringing out the character's unique demeanor.

For makeup, I intentionally deepened dark shading around the eyes and brows, paired with yellow-green contact lenses to make my gaze appear more profound. Red lip color echoed the outfit's red collar, highlighting the visual centerpiece of the overall makeup. This was actually where I spent the most time on makeup, wanting to recreate those eyebrows and eyes that are gentle yet implicitly strong. The red folding fan held during shooting was also a specially customized prop; the defined ribs and folds combined with hand postures successfully guided the visual focus to the upper body, showcasing a dignified yet relaxed posture of holding a fan in the breeze.

Moving on to the scene set selection, rather than using overly bright or complicated backdrop boards, I chose a translucent screen adorned with classical Chinese calligraphy alongside a cluster of bamboo leaves to establish depth. Adding desktop props like a censer, grapes, and floral arrangements introduced a serene touch of daily life to an otherwise flat composition. In particular, this cluster of grapes, with its deep dark sheen under warm light sources, radiated rich texture that complemented the bronze censer beside it, beautifully enhancing the atmosphere of a cozy everyday corner. During shooting, key lighting was directed at my face and chest area, while backlighting illuminated hair and ear edges as rim light, giving the character a crisp silhouette in the frame for this Anime-style photography.

For posing, I opted for a relatively relaxed sitting posture, focusing on showing off the upper body tailored fit and prop interactions while revealing partial leg lines, ensuring overall standing-and-sitting proportions didn't feel cramped in front of the lens. When using fill lights, color temperature was adjusted with special care, resulting in finished photos with a warm gold and amber hue that perfectly suited the character's exclusive Chinese-style cosplay theme.

Actually, the hardest part of this look wasn't costume fabrication, but precisely capturing that touch of character essence during on-site shooting. As Fugue, the character possesses unique complexity in personality and aura, but through everyday exploration and continuous synergy with the photographer, I gradually found a confident sense of ease in front of the camera. A great photoshoot is never accomplished overnight purely by post-editing; early preparation, lighting, posing, and one's own understanding of character atmosphere are all indispensable.
