A record of Convention photos from the Xiamen Yunlu CGE expo. For this Touhou Project Remilia cosplay, I chose a classic pink Lolita dress overall. To emphasize the character's sweetness, it was paired with a ruffled, lace-trimmed pink mob cap and a matching dress, with red-and-black demon wings mounted on the back. For hair and makeup, I specifically wore red colored contacts matched with eyeshadow and lipstick in the same shade, paired with light blue curly hair to faithfully recreate that commanding yet adorable demeanor. For footwear, White stockings and black patent leather shoes were selected, serving as a major highlight of the outfit.
The venue was bustling with crowds that day, making candid snapshot timing a real test of coordination. Fortunately, the rugged industrial steel framing and glass windows behind the hall served as a fantastic backdrop, where backlighting illuminated the layers of the dress gorgeously. During shooting, I experimented with different vibes: sitting on a tall black stool to highlight garment contours through the flare of the voluminous skirt; crouching slightly for a back-view composition revealing only the back silhouette and small wings; and half-body close-ups using a hand V-sign and red nail polish to add visual focal points. To properly showcase the dress details, I paid close attention to the hoop skirt structure, ensuring the skirt hem stayed flared out fully and evenly. The perk of wearing White stockings and flat shoes is being able to strike playful poses effortlessly, such as gently lifting the skirt hem. I even ran into another cosplayer portraying the same character on site (heard there were two Remilias at the event)—encountering fellow fans at a convention is always a magical feeling, so we took a few snapshot photos together, and the outcome turned out surprisingly well. Although convention photos often have cluttered elements from passing crowds, the photographer framed shots expertly, capturing both the lighting and my dynamic motion. Honestly, preparing the costume and fine-tuning details like the snug fit between the mob cap and wig, as well as securing the wings, took considerable effort, but seeing the finished photos made all the prep work worthwhile. I hope this post documents the mood of that day and leaves a complete memory of this convention experience.
