The Convention photos from Day 1 and Day 3 of the Jinling Youth Culture Expo are finally sorted out. I brought two cosplay sets this time—Elysia and Robin. Even though the two-day convention itinerary was packed to the brim, successfully wrapping up shoots for both outfits made me genuinely happy. The weather on the first day was quite cooperative, and finding good lighting across the venue halls took some creative maneuvering. Elysia's costume is packed with intricate details; the metallic gold armor pieces and white fabric stitching required extensive adjustments before fitting smoothly against the body. The long pink hair featured subtle gradient shifts, while the white bridal veil and purple-and-white headpieces at the crown were pinned with numerous bobby pins to keep them secure during walks and active poses. The bow prop carried substantial weight—the pairing of pink geometric plumage with the gilded bow riser was visually stunning, but hauling it around the expo floor outside of shooting was an intense physical workout.

While shooting this archer ensemble, I deliberately scouted several distinct backdrops. The shot seated on the folding chair drawing the bow required tensing the leg lines while stabilizing the upper torso; even though the bowstring couldn't genuinely be pulled taut, coordinating hand posture with eye focus was essential. The standing frame prioritized showcasing full-body proportions: white heeled tall boots accented with purple ribbon bows, complemented by metallic thigh rings, anchoring an overall aesthetic of lavish fantasy. When overhead lights beamed down from the hall ceiling, reflections from the smooth floor acted as an impromptu bounce reflector, carving out striking depth across the white garments as I drew the bow.

Transitioning to Robin, the vibe shifted from sharp, gallant crispness to gentle, lyrical elegance. The pastel-blue wavy locks had to be carefully shaped with a small-barrel curling iron to cultivate airy volume. The golden halo crowning the head serves as the spiritual anchor of the entire design; to maintain a floating optical illusion before the lens, I engineered a concealed structural support inside to prevent wobbling during wider movements. The corseted bandeau bodice demanded a snug fit to the silhouette; the iridescent blue sheen across the chest paired with the white lace neckpiece gave off a luminous, shimmering ripple at the slightest turn.

Posing with the staff was comparatively easier on the body, though the gilded flourishes and purple blossoms crowning the tip still required careful vigilance against accidental bumps. To match the character's serene elegance, I kept my motions open and gentle before the camera; reaching a hand toward the lens was an attempt to find an intimate, interactive dialogue with the photographer. The pairing of sheer puff sleeves with a pleated skirt flare created rich layering during movement, and beneath the venue's moody blue ambient lighting, the garment's color palette looked mesmerizing.

Roaming the expo and shooting over these two days taught me the ultimate lesson: when bringing cosplays with oversized props and complex accessories, packing a sewing kit and makeup touch-up essentials is non-negotiable. Smoothing out flyaway wig fibers, pressing out wardrobe wrinkles, and touching up prop paint chips are emergencies that can strike on set at any second. Although the preparation was tedious, seeing the finished imagery on the camera display brought that irreplaceable sense of accomplishment in pulling virtual characters into physical reality. Framed against the hall's industrial structures and natural light, both stylings were documented gorgeously. Meeting an aligned photographer at the convention and seamlessly fusing the characters' traits with my personal creative interpretation was the ultimate way to archive this expo experience.
