Putting on Marisa Kirisame's classic outfit and bringing the iconic lantern and broom, I became a Gensokyo magician at the national comic con today. The white puff sleeves and layered ruffled skirt hem, paired with a black corset and a vintage leather waist pouch, topped off with that large black-and-white top hat adorned with starlight details—this complete visual presentation allowed many passing fellow fans to recognize the character at first glance.
To match the casual and energetic vibe of an "ordinary magician," the golden wig specially prepared this time was braided into double pigtails, which perfectly enhanced the saturation of the image alongside the overall color palette. During the shoot, we chose a quiet corner of the exhibition hall. Under the lens of photographer Ruoye, whether it was a close-up shot holding the bright yellow kerosene lantern or a standing pose gripping the spiral staff, the props and the character's temperament blended together naturally. Especially when adjusting my posture while sitting on the black folding high stool, the curve of the spreading skirt hem looked exceptionally beautiful.
The cool-toned light source of the convention venue heavily tests post-production skills, but fortunately, today's light and shadow were dimensional enough. For convention photos, avoiding a staged feeling is crucial, so I tried to truly get into the character's state, imagining that I was really going on an adventure. Walking through the crowd holding the kerosene lantern, or casually sitting on the steps, the candid snapshots often carry more of a story than intentionally striking a pose. I hope this set of photos from Touhou Project can convey Marisa's infectious passion for adventure and her dedicated pursuit of magic. It's incredibly fulfilling to do what I love at the convention, and the props and costume details this time basically achieved the ideal presentation state for this piece of Cosplay photography.
