For this Remilia Scarlet shoot in Shenzhen, the most time-consuming part of the preparation stage was the lace layering of the costume and the support structure of the wings. The red-and-white color scheme easily creates contrast in a dark-toned gothic studio, but in practice, to prevent the red elements from blending together into a blur, we specially adjusted the reflection angles of the lighting. For instance, we introduced a warm main light between the red leather sofa and the dark red curtains, allowing the lace texture to be fully displayed. That white skirt with a grid texture and the white thigh-highs with cross-straps, paired with red high heels, elongated the leg lines while reinforcing the noble yet tsundere posture of the vampire lady. My own makeup also focused on elongating the outer corners of the eyes to fit her somewhat lazy and playful character setting.

The shooting set was decorated with quite a few props: a red leather sofa, gilded frames, skulls, old books, and that gramophone. To prevent the environment from looking cluttered, the camera position was chosen in front of the iron chains for a foreground-blocking composition. This preserved the secret room atmosphere while making the character pop out more in the frame. A frame-within-a-frame composition like picture four heavily tests the naturalness of expressions. Holding that cup of pink special drink required maintaining a lazy yet subtly playful demeanor; actually, this pose was adjusted repeatedly many times to achieve the ideal perspective effect.

As for the wings, to match the overall fluffiness, we opted for a lightweight skeleton. This guaranteed that when kneeling or leaning sideways, the wings would still maintain a sharp arc without crushing the skirt hem or causing an unstable center of gravity during high-intensity action shots. The collaborating photographer from Shenzhen photography managed the light and shadow beautifully this time, recreating that lighting feel with dark fairy-tale colors from Touhou's Gensokyo. The entire shoot felt more like an immersive character experience rather than simply clicking the shutter.

When organizing this set of photos, I also really loved the results of this official set. Especially under several different composition perspectives, some small details matching the character setting were accidentally captured, which serves as the best proof of the dedication put into this Gothic style cosplay shoot.
