[Shimoe Koharu cosplay] Blue Archive Pure White Vow: Dreamy Greenhouse Scene Photoshoot Share

For this Pure White Vow look of Blue Archive's Shimoe Koharu, I had been eagerly anticipating the final results since the early conceptual stages. The pristine white base paired with generous cut-out tailoring, complemented by deep blue wing hair accessories and a four-pointed star choker, creates rich visual layering. When shooting this set, we deliberately chose an indoor studio with exceptionally soft lighting, incorporating abundant white and blue floral arrangements alongside an antique gold mirror frame in the background—visually gorgeous without overpowering the subject.

The costume design itself pays tremendous attention to detail, such as the chest cut-out paired with a pink bow and the cascading ruffled shoulders. This demanded very natural posing and positioning during the shoot to bring out an effortless yet innocent aura. To highlight the unique features of this outfit, the makeup avoided overly heavy colors, pairing the pink wig with red eyes for a translucent, gentle texture. The white stockings cosplay element played a crucial role in the entire ensemble; the smooth white over-the-knee socks exhibited a soft sheen under gentle light, which, combined with the skirt slit, accentuated the leg lines while staying true to the character's signature youthful and distinct charm.

While shooting this set, the mirrors and floral arrangements provided abundant inspiration. Whether leaning against the golden frame or kneeling semi-profile along the edge of the floral cluster, every movement had to account for the contours of the costume's cut-outs. Because of the outfit's unique silhouette—presenting completely different visual dynamics from the front and side—we combined eye-level shots, high angles, and wide-aperture close-ups. For instance, in the shot against the stained glass backdrop in our church-style photography, the translucent quality of the backlighting accentuated the lightness of the dress, perfectly complementing the Pure White Vow theme.

In interpreting Shimoe Koharu's disposition, many might focus on her subtle contradictions, but in this Pure White Vow outfit, I wanted to showcase her pure, unadulterated lightness. Fully immersed in collaborating with the photographer on the shoot day, I kept my facial expressions tuned to her slightly aloof yet relaxed and clever demeanor. We encountered minor challenges along the way—like the delicate skirt hem getting tangled in the flowers, requiring constant adjustments—but fortunately, the final photos faithfully captured that dreamy essence. From costume prep and makeup styling to set building, considerable thought went into every step, not only recreating the character but infusing my own aesthetic perspective. Being able to clearly present the character design and textile textures is my interpretation and expression of the art of cosplay.
