Recreating the overall structure of this costume took a lot of effort, especially that oversized black hat and the hard wing-like shoulder decorations. If the center of gravity isn't adjusted well when wearing it, the neck can easily feel strained. Fortunately, the blue-toned geometric texture tailoring combined with the metal waist chains perfectly balanced the visual weight. To capture the ideal dynamic motion, I specially adjusted the fixed points of the high heels and leg chain accessories before shooting, especially that thigh ring with fine chains—it had to fit perfectly without being too tight. We tried several walking styles on-site before fully adapting to it.

The lighting for this photo set was a specialized design tailored for a dark and mysterious atmosphere. The set mainly relied on purple-blue cool lights to outline the silhouettes of the background iron cages and decorative chains, and then used warm rim lights to brighten the edges of the character, ensuring distinct layers of light and shadow from the wide-brimmed hat down to the skirt hem. Because there are many elements in the background, such as the glowing line arrays on the floor and the bone props by my feet, it would easily blur into a mess without sufficient rim lighting. The photographer was very patient. To minimize the edge distortion brought by the wide-angle lens, we repeatedly tested several camera positions for both standing and crouching poses before determining the angle that best showcases the proportions of the costume design for this Wide-angle portrait.

In terms of makeup, to stay close to the character's traits, light purple wavy hair was paired with a very cold blue eye look and light-colored contact lenses. The base makeup was kept as clean as possible, with the focus on the slightly upturned eyeliner at the corners of the eyes to boost the aura. The prop team was exceptionally supportive this time; the realistic metallic paint finish on the surface of the staff and long sword was solid, feeling heavy and very authentic in hand.

The most physically demanding part of the shoot was the composition featuring a crouching pose paired with a direct gaze into the camera. It not only required a tight core but also required stabilizing the hand props to keep them from shaking while keeping the facial expression relaxed and natural. The few close-ups and standing poses with the goblet were a bit more relaxed, but to capture that composed demeanor, the lines of the shoulders and wrists needed to be fully stretched. Overall, this kind of gothic-fantasy themed set combined with high-contrast lighting beautifully showcased the details and textures of the costume. Every time we set up large items like reflectors and lighting equipment, I get exhausted, but seeing the translucency of the light and shadow the moment the final photos come out brings a massive sense of achievement during this session of Cosplay photography.
