[Klee Cosplay] Behind the Scenes of Halloween Witch Klee Photoshoot

This time I cosplayed Klee from Genshin Impact. The witch look fits the Halloween atmosphere perfectly, so I prepared a red-and-white Witch costume in advance. The pointed top and curly patterns on the hat took quite a bit of effort, and details like the badges and bows were made to faithfully recreate the in-game design. For the hair, I used a light blonde wig, paired with red eye makeup and elf ears; the entire makeup and styling process took about two hours to complete.

On the day of the shoot, we prepared multiple scene setups. The first set was an indoor afternoon tea scene, featuring a red checkered tablecloth paired with a multi-tiered dessert stand, a light blue teacup, and even a few gold coin props scattered around. During shooting, I needed to control my expression to stay playful while being careful with how I held the cupcake to prevent my gloves from dirtying the props. The second set was a solid-color studio shoot; the blue-purple background highlighted the red and white of the outfit. Holding a white plush doll added a sense of interaction and made it easier to adjust expressions and gaze focus. The third set featured a vintage backdrop with gears and clocks, complete with red velvet drapes and candlesticks. The warm light was perfect for showcasing a witch's mysterious vibe.

In terms of action design, I referenced Klee's usual lively personality, featuring various poses like holding the hat brim, lifting the skirt hem, looking back over the shoulder, and standing sideways. For the full-body standing photo, to showcase the layered skirt and leg sock coordination, I specifically adjusted my center of gravity to let the skirt puff out naturally. Black gloves and black buckle leather shoes grounded the color tone within the red-and-white dress so it wouldn't look too floated. The photographer used a large aperture during shooting, blurring the background to accentuate the main subject while keeping lighting even so skin tone and costume textures came through clearly for this Anime-style photography set.

The fabric for this costume combines velvet and cotton splicing: the red skirt section has a subtle matte texture, while the white top features pleated textures. Red bows on the cuffs and ruffles around the collar make the entire outfit look even cuter. The brown belt at the waist serves as a finishing touch, breaking up the monotony of large red and white color blocks. As for socks and shoes, I chose thigh-high white stockings paired with side red bows to echo the bow elements on the skirt. The shoes are low-heeled Mary Janes, making walking and posing steady without worrying about tripping.

While organizing the photos, I noticed significant differences under different lighting conditions. Warm light scenes made facial features look softer, whereas cool light studio shoots made costume colors more vibrant, so I selected five photos with different feelings to display together. Usually when posting cosplay works, I select the most satisfying shot as the cover image. This time I picked a full-body standing photo with complete composition and relaxed pose—leg lines and skirt layering are clearly visible without watermark obstructions, allowing everyone to see the entire ensemble at a glance.

After the shoot wrapped up, a lot of time went into organizing the wig and outfit—especially the hat, which deforms easily and needed re-shaping. However, seeing the final photos made all the preparation feel completely worth it. For me, cosplay is not just about recreating a character, but also reinterpreting their temperament. I hope this Witch Klee lets everyone feel the magical Halloween atmosphere!
