For this Anime convention shoot, we used a Sony A7C2 paired with a 28-75mm G2 lens and an AD200 outdoor strobe. This Youmu Konpaku cosplay outfit looked fantastic under the lights; the reflectance of the lace material and deep green fabric was very pleasing. The photographer excels at this atmospheric, dark-toned lighting technique, brightening the subject against the dim convention hall to make the character immediately pop. I especially love this on-site texture.

First, regarding the costume details: the white long-sleeved shirt features plentiful ruffles, and the intricate lace on the cuffs works beautifully when looking downward. The outer dark green vest features jacquard patterns and a tightly cinched waist—while standing for extended periods felt a bit tight, it was completely worth it to capture that dignified yet combat-ready posture of Kendo aesthetics. The skirt is layered with white lace trim, giving great volume when twirling. The headpiece combines white flowers with elaborate lace, slightly narrowing the field of view once worn.

For props, I prepared two katanas with black-and-white diamond cord wraps and bright pink tassels. While vibrant in daily life, this color scheme complemented the green-and-white dress wonderfully. When posing, one must manage core strength while paying attention to the angle of the blade tip to keep it from looking foreshortened in the frame. I tried three distinct angles: the first is a dynamic backward-leaning stance with swords drawn, later enhanced with blue halos, smoke, and drifting petals for maximum atmosphere. Capturing that sword swing took multiple grueling takes. The second is a seated pose leaning forward, holding a pink blossom to my lips while reaching out with the other hand toward the lens. This perspective showcases the texture of my White stockings and the layered skirt with a clean, centered composition. The third is a two-handed sword stance with a cold, sharp gaze and sword tips angled toward the floor, using ground reflections to project battle-ready tension.

Since it was an Anime convention, the surroundings were cluttered with shadows of other attendees. Fortunately, the photographer utilized a wide aperture to blur the background and strobes to overpower ambient light, cleaning up the cluttered hall. The combination of white lace and the green dress brightened the skin tone, complemented by pale colored contacts and red lips to evoke the character's cool elegance. Walking around the hall surrounded by fellow fans was a relaxing experience. Despite moving between outdoor and indoor areas and holding the swords all day until my arms were sore, seeing the final photos made all the effort feel deeply rewarding.
