[Haniyasushin Keiki cosplay] Touhou Project: Serene Moments in the Garden

I chose to cosplay Haniyasushin Keiki mainly because of her ornate, substantial costume design. Crafting the outfit required extensive fabric testing to support the complex petticoat structure and the draping of multi-layered lace. The contrast between dark green velvet and creamy chiffon creates a delicate interplay under illumination, though this pairing demands meticulous lighting in the shoot.

Wearing the blue long hair wig proved quite challenging due to its substantial length and weight, requiring green hair accessories and a pearl necklace for proper stabilization. Spending over an hour adjusting strands just to achieve a natural silhouette considerably impacted the shooting tempo. Furthermore, keeping the pearl chains and pocket accents pristine meant moving with extreme caution between poses.

Posing on the swing was tricky; the voluminous skirt tended to obscure my face or misalign the fabric's rear drape, requiring constant guidance from the photographer. The thin swing ropes made balancing difficult while maintaining an elegant hand grip—far harder than standard standing poses. Capturing the precise breeze often required repeating the same sequence multiple times.

This set was shot in a location featuring white flowers and angel sculptures, where bright, neutral tones beautifully accentuated the character's vivid palette. The photographer framed wide landscape shots to emphasize the garment's grand silhouette alongside close-up portraits highlighting makeup and neckline lines. Despite the heavy ensemble, I focused on maintaining a relaxed posture to evoke Keiki's serene demeanor.

Post-processing was kept subtle, focusing on restoring the natural lighting mood and preserving genuine fabric textures. From outfit preparation through the shoot, communication with the photographer, makeup artist, and seamstress was seamless. The seamstress's clever patterning gave the costume a stunning three-dimensional silhouette even at rest. Beyond standard cosplay, this session was an enriching creative experiment combining garment details with garden photography.
