[Kochiya Sanae Cosplay] Ringing Bells in the Forest: Blessing of the Wind

This Kochiya Sanae Cosplay shoot was set in a coniferous forest, primarily to match the solemn atmosphere of the concept. The angle of sunlight during the shoot was fantastic—backlighting filtering through the leaves created halos that added immense ambiance to the scene. The sound of wind rustling through leaves, fluttering my hair strands and the colorful ribbons of the prop, felt as though the wind was answering back. I prepared a wooden bell and five-colored cords beforehand; the cords had to be sturdy, otherwise they easily snap when swung. The photographer @Jingzi excels at capturing dynamic motion like this. We spent considerable time adjusting the angle of the bell in hand so it reflected a beautiful sheen. The bow tie and skirt hem of this JK uniform required constant tidying, especially the deep-blue Over-the-knee socks, which paired with the skirt length to accentuate leg lines while walking and prevent scratches from forest twigs. A low-angle, full-body composition best captured the towering trees—specifically that shot capturing the moment I raised one leg. This low-angle shot visually elongated leg proportions, focusing attention on the Over-the-knee socks. The lighting contrast across this set is quite high with a cool green palette, perfect for conveying the character's mystical aura from Touhou Project. The shoot was physically demanding since it required squatting and standing on earthen slopes while watching out for exposed roots. The paper shide streamers on the prop weren't attached securely enough initially, so we wrapped them with thin wire. Overall, this Forest photography leaned toward realistic documentary recording without excessive flashy post-processing, relying mainly on in-camera capture. Light filtering through tree gaps illuminated hair strands and the bell, giving raw shots rich texture. When the breeze blew, that feeling of being blessed by the wind radiated through the frame. You can also see the texture of the socks and skirt harmony on camera—this is one of my most satisfying sets.
