Today's trial fit of this Liberalio set at the Firefly Comic Con turned out even more satisfying than expected. This time, armed with the combination of the Sony A7C2 and the 28-75G2 lens, focusing and color were truly hassle-free, especially in a complex lighting environment like the exhibition hall, where it could capture the character's texture and clothing details exceptionally well. Commanders familiar with this character should all know that Liberalio's setting carries a quiet and fragile aesthetic, so during this shoot, I deliberately wanted to create an undisturbed atmosphere.
To recreate this outfit, a lot of effort actually went into the details. The white form-fitting bodysuit is spliced with black and purple strap lines, and the tailoring fits the body very closely, though in a crowded place like a comic con, movement still requires caution. The most eye-catching part is undoubtedly the floating square headpiece and the sci-fi-inspired mechanical structure. To keep it fixed in position during the shoot without breaking immersion, I used quite a few invisible bobby pins, and fortunately, the final presented halo effect is fantastic. In addition, that pair of semi-transparent water sleeves with laser reflective feel is one of the soul elements of this styling. They are extremely lightweight, and when I wave them around, that ethereal feeling can almost make one forget that this is in a bustling exhibition hall.
In this attire, pairing the white stockings with futuristic mecha-style platform long boots, or switching to slim high heels, represents two completely different styles. When shooting while sitting down, the white stockings have a great effect on shaping the leg lines, and coupled with the wide water sleeves, the entire frame presents a serene yet slightly sexy tension. Meanwhile, when standing or doing some exaggerated movements, those platform long boots make me look more powerful. Although those mecha-style long boots are very cool, they are indeed quite heavy, requiring a bit of balance control when walking around. The white high heels, on the other hand, are meant to showcase another kind of lightness; during single-leg pose shots, core strength must be tightly engaged to make the posture look effortless.
Regarding the handling of the wig and makeup, the light purple twin-tails received quite prominent layering treatment. To match the red contact lenses, the eye makeup slightly elongated the outer corners of the eyes to make the gaze look purer. The lace hair ornament on top of the head is actually stuck piece by piece onto the original structure using craft glue and bobby pins. Although it looks a bit complex, as long as the position is found correctly, it can present a casual yet exquisite feeling. To fit the character's overall temperament, the expression of body language this time consciously restrained exaggerated movements, relying more on eye contact and subtle hand postures. For example, gently resting fingers against the chest when sitting, or slightly tilting the head to look at the lens when standing—such casual postures make it easier to close the distance with the viewer.
During on-site shooting, the photographer guided me to try several different postures, such as sitting on a ladder, gently touching the chest while looking straight into the lens, or the lively moment of lifting a leg and adjusting the heel. Although the surrounding environment was very noisy with lots of people coming and going, the moment the shutter clicked, I was indeed trying to block out the surrounding noise and enter a relatively quiet, immersive state. As someone who loves quietness, occasionally finding one's own rhythm in a lively environment like a comic con to interpret a beloved character is also a rare and precious experience. Overhead lighting in exhibition halls is usually quite harsh, so we brought our own softboxes for fill light, making the facial shadow transition more natural and skin texture more translucent. Especially that layer of semi-transparent white water sleeves, under the coordination of backlight and soft light, captured that lightweight texture perfectly. When all preparation work and shooting states are online, the photo output rate is naturally high. Occasionally slowing down, ignoring the bustle of the surrounding crowd, and focusing on being a quiet jellyfish in front of the lens for a while is also a very enjoyable thing.
