[Marisa cosplay] Record of a Magician in a European-Style Garden: Touhou Project

Shooting a European-style magician outdoor set locally in Xiamen, this time we chose the Baixiang Portman Seven Stars Bay Hotel. With the venue's European gardens and vine-covered stone walls, there's finally no need to envy other cities to shoot a European-style building exterior like this.

Regarding the costume, a lot of care went into preparing this black-and-white Lolita dress. The upper white lace ruffled shirt features rich collar and cuff details, paired with a wide black corset that tightens the waist nicely to present a classic silhouette for this Lolita outfit coordination. The skirt has multiple layers, combining black-and-white stripes with lace mesh splicing, displaying exceptionally distinct textures under natural outdoor light. The wide-brimmed hat is the highlight of the entire look; its black-and-white mesh and ruffled edges drape beautifully, framing the face while accentuating the magical atmosphere of the outfit. For props, I carried a cane with a curved top adorned with black-and-white bow ribbons and vintage tassels, cleverly echoing the skirt design.

The sunlight on shoot day was exceptional, offering abundant light for our Xiamen photography session. We picked several different spots. The shot sitting in the stone archway uses the wall frame composition to define the visual center clearly, with a relaxed posture adding a playful touch. The shots walking up the stone steps captured dynamic motion, adjusting foot lift so the skirt naturally flutters, revealing thick-soled black Mary Janes and white lace-trimmed ankle socks. Leaning against the vine wall leveraged the cane as a balance point, leaning my center of gravity slightly for a more natural look.

From a photography standpoint, this outfit is packed with details, demanding fine precision in focus and lighting control. Sunlight coming from the side and front creates gorgeous light and shadow gradients through lace and ruffles, while a wide aperture depth of field keeps the foreground sharp and naturally blurs the background. The architectural details and manicured greenery of Portman Hotel provided a fantastic backdrop for this European-style building exterior shoot, achieving ideal lighting almost without artificial light sources.

Overall, this outdoor shoot went smoother than expected, with no last-minute remedies needed for costume comfort or prop coordination. Thanks to the photographer's patient guidance, we tried various perspectives from high and low camera angles to present these detailed photos.
