In the process of selecting convention photos for this Chien Wu cheongsam styling, I specifically released both standing and sitting poses to let everyone help me make a choice. The standing pose on the left, through the crossing of legs and the support of high heels, elongates the overall visual lines, coordinating with the spread-out water sleeves to create a lightweight dynamic feel; the sitting pose on the right focuses more on showcasing the character's calm and composed side, conveying an introverted temperament through interaction with the props.

Let's first talk about the restoration details of this styling. The costume utilizes a deep blue modified short cheongsam, preserving the classic stand-up collar and frog button elements, but changing it into a more refreshing halter-neck design. The neckline is adorned with a red bowknot and a pearl necklace accessory is added in front of the chest. This color-clashing design of red flowers on a blue base looks extremely eye-catching under the convention lights. The dress is printed with red floral patterns, with a shortened treatment at the hem. To match the character's setting, the hairstyle features a highly recognizable black layered short cut, with bangs modifying the face shape, and a blue-and-white flower hair accessory on the side, echoing the color tone of the dress.

As for the lower body coordination, I chose a pair of stockings with wide-bordered black lace, paired with black glossy waterproof platform high heels. The gray reflective floor of the convention hall beautifully mapped the light and shadow contours of the shoes and legs. This overhead lighting layout made the contrast between light and dark in the overall frame highly intense, highlighting the silky texture of the black stockings. Regarding the props, the semi-transparent white tulle waved in my hands was a relatively difficult part to master; making it flow naturally without obscuring my face or getting tangled up often required several test shots. The trailing blue long ribbon draped on the ground during the sitting pose, forming a fluid visual extension.

The lighting environment on the day of the shoot was quite harsh, as the high-positioned spotlights of the hall would shine directly on top of the head, forming relatively hard shadows. However, the photographer beautifully utilized these point light sources and background blurring to capture the highlighted graininess and ground reflection spots in the frame. This slightly cool ambient light perfectly fits the theme of this deep blue dress. I actually put a lot of thought into choosing between the standing and sitting compositions. The standing action of raising the tulle could show off the figure and soft waistline to the maximum extent, while the image sitting on a high stool was more conducive to capturing that quiet atmosphere. Especially when the water sleeves stayed briefly in the air for a split second, the entire character seemed to complete a stretched, frozen moment.

In such a cluttered convention background, capturing a clean subject close-up is far from easy. Not only do you have to avoid the crowds walking behind you, but you also need to maintain the smoothness of the actions while the shutter clicks. Standing and shooting in high heels for most of the day indeed placed a lot of pressure on my legs and soles, but to capture these soft lighting moments, both the fine-tuned standing pose and the readjusted sitting position were repeatedly coordinated with changes in camera positions and focal lengths. Doing this styling was also a re-examination of details, from the pearl necklace at the neck to the hair accessory on the side, to the water sleeves and the blue fabric scattered on the ground—they collectively constitute a unified aesthetic in this set of works.

The final set of convention photos presented to everyone carries both a sense of spatial extension and a quiet transmission of emotions. This stylized performance is not just a realistic restoration of the original design, but also an attempt to create a more complete visual narrative in a limited convention environment, which I think is a highly meaningful endeavor in Anime-style photography.
