[Yumemizuki Mizuki cosplay] Genshin Impact Natlan Style: Convention Record with Handheld Fan

Stepping out at this Gaming festival as Yumemizuki Mizuki, I spent a long time preparing the makeup, styling, and props, and it was so fulfilling to finally present the complete look at the anime convention. Shooting in the venue's cool overhead light gave the light blue wig a crystal-clear, translucent texture. The oversized bow on top was built as a double-layered structure reinforced with aluminum wire inside to maintain a 3D arc that wouldn't collapse while walking around. The elf ears on the wig were custom-made silicone sleeves with soft skin-tone blending applied around the edges for a natural fit without sharp seams.

The costume went through multiple revisions, and my favorite detail is the drape of the sleeves. The lining uses chiffon while the outer layer blends starry gradient purple-pink printed fabric, creating a light, ethereal flutter with every movement. The black-and-white striped bow tie at the collar with golden bells was designed with a detachable magnetic clasp so it wouldn't snag wig fibers during wearing. The purple bow on the waist side and waist wraps were individually stitched onto the obi belt; positioning them took quite some time, but they stayed perfectly aligned even after running around the venue for half a day. The heart-shaped thigh ring used elastic band lining with anti-slip silicone, holding its position during posing without pinching the skin.

As for props, the round fan features a semi-transparent frosted acrylic surface with a red thread tassel wrapped around the handle, which proved incredibly practical for refining facial light reflections on camera. The dessert tray set featured sugar-paste replica models for the milk bottle and dessert bowl—lightweight, easy to hold, and perfectly balanced even when navigating dense crowds. The convention floor was packed, so to find a clean backdrop, I picked a lighting rig area in a corner. Though the background was slightly busy, the focused directional lighting brightened the subject and created sharp, dimensional layering.

My original plan was to spin around holding the fan, switch to holding the tray, and then transition back to the fan. However, during the live shoot, I realized the purple-pink dessert tray complemented the gradient outfit so nicely that I added several high-angle close-ups on the fly. Using a fast prime lens blurred the background equipment racks and crowd into soft bokeh pinpoints, preserving the energetic convention vibe without taking focus away from the character. For makeup, I chose warm pinkish-orange eyeshadow to create a subtle warm-cool contrast against the light blue wig, paired with a milk-tea lip shade to maintain a gentle, sweet aesthetic. Capturing wind-blown hair strands required several takes, achieving dynamic motion thanks to setting spray on the bangs and gentle backcombing at the roots.

Preparing the outfit details and props for this event was far more intricate than expected, but the moment I put everything on, all that invested time felt entirely worth it. Having fellow fans recognize the character and Genshin Impact design onsite brought a profound sense of shared appreciation—the ultimate motivation during late-night prep. The state captured in these Convention photos reflects my real experience all day long: exhausted, yet utterly thrilled.
