Nerf this! As a veteran player of Overwatch, D.Va has always been my signature hero. This time, I finally put her combat suit on myself, feeling as if I just jumped straight out of the game.

The texture of the clothing material is the key to the success of this cosplay costume. To restore that tech material with a bit of gloss in the game, I specially chose a type of high-elastic leather fabric, where the blue part carries a highly mecha-like texture under light reflection. The white area uses slightly matte material, forming a just-right contrast with the blue. The black armor at the neckline and the white components on the shoulders are not simple patches, but are made through three-dimensional tailoring to fit the body perfectly. The pink trim outlines the body lines, and the MEKA logo and small English letters on the outer side of the thighs were specially made by a manufacturer using heat transfer, possessing high fidelity.

No less effort was spent on the props as well. That pink pistol must be precise in shape, and the spray paint needs to have a texture combining plastic and metal, with even the small pendant on the gun grip being meticulous. The communication headphone is the soul; the black and red color scheme paired with green signal lights and antenna instantly brings that confident and playful feel of the character upon wearing. For the red markings on the face, I used a set of setting eye shadow cream, which is highly photogenic without melting due to sweating midway through the shoot.

The actual photography process was highly lively. Although the suit is very form-fitting, because the material's elasticity is superb, performing actions like kneeling on one knee and raising the gun was highly sharp. To shoot that most satisfying photo holding the gun, we repeatedly adjusted the pose, aiming for that sharp yet girlish casualness. Holding that white and green plushie, my entire state relaxed completely, and my camera presence naturally became lively. The action in Image 2, leaping into the air to make a heart gesture in front of my chest, took quite a few snapshot attempts to capture the moment of flying hair. Sitting on the platform with a single hand supporting the headphone was aimed at creating a dispatcher's casualness, as if reporting the battlefield situation to teammates.

I have always been fascinated by the Overwatch world building, and the contrast-cute trait of D.Va is highly grasping; she is both a top professional gamer and a hero driving a mecha to protect her homeland. In the process of character role-play, besides restoring her iconic outer appearance, I was also constantly experiencing her confident, daring spirit, hoping to display this vigor in the photos.

The coordination of lighting and scene this time was also beautifully done. The photographer used cool-toned blue light as the main light source, which happened to form an echo with the red and blue colors on my suit. The pure blue background paired with a cylindrical stage pulled the character's three-dimensional feel to the max. The rabbit pattern background board added later was also an element we specially prepared to enrich the frame. The reflective blue floor and the addition of an gaming chair brought the scene's atmosphere closer to that of a high-end esports competition backstage under this Mecha Sci-Fi vibe.

If there is any sole regret, it would be that pair of shoes. Though they look like casual athletic style, for the sake of support and shape, the soles were made very hard, and standing for a long time indeed made the soles of my feet quite sore. However, looking at the final photos, I feel all the waiting and sweat were exceptionally worth it.

This D.Va cosplay completed my long-standing wish, serving as a highly satisfying experience. It is not only a challenge but also a tribute to the character in my heart.
