The finished Cosplay photoshoot of Azur Lane's Golden Lion was actually re-edited and completed a few months ago. The core elements of this design are instantly recognizable: Elf ears paired with blonde hair, wrapped in an ensemble dominated by pure White lace—the very moment I saw the concept art, I decided I had to cosplay her.
The set design on the day of the shoot received substantial thought: white roses, birdcages, and candelabras, paired with black-and-white geometric archways in the background, aiming to cultivate a sacred yet subtly enigmatic atmosphere.
The wardrobe is loaded with details: the lace texture on the corset bodice is remarkably delicate, while delicate gold chains at the collar and waist enhance overall refinement. The sheer outer robe was crafted from airy chiffon that flutters with an ethereal billow during motion, contrasted sharply against the dark inner lining. The most eye-catching prop was undoubtedly this staff: its gilded shaft crowned with emerald-green luminescent components stood out vividly in darker settings. To capture the staff's glowing effect, the photographer experimented extensively with lighting setups, striving to balance cool and warm tones so the warmth of candlelight remained intact while accentuating the mysterious green glow.
In truth, because white is the dominant tone of this coordinate, it tends to blow out easily under harsh light. Thus, we carefully controlled the angles of large light sources, utilizing side-backlighting to contour the subject's edges and sculpt three-dimensional depth across the lace embroidery between highlights and shadows. The handheld staff was not only a visual focal point but carried genuine weight, making my arms ache after holding it aloft for long periods. Yet for the sake of the composition, I cycled through varied grips—cradling it with one hand or resting it along the side of my body to keep the posture looking effortless and graceful.
Fitting the Elf ears was far less simple than imagined; angles had to be calibrated repeatedly to blend smoothly with facial contours while preventing the wig from obscuring the jawline. The overall makeup leaned into the elven concept as well, featuring blue-toned contact lenses that forged a cool, elegant aesthetic against the blonde hair. Styling the wig also took ample time, demanding careful layering and styling products to preserve airy volume, allowing it to catch studio strobes with a rich, natural luster.
Poses were adjusted back and forth multiple times to elongate the visual lines of the legs while showcasing the garment—such as half-kneeling or standing sideways—eventually selecting frames that naturally displayed the entire silhouette. During post-production retouches, emphasis was placed on light-and-shadow gradations so the white fabrics wouldn't appear flat, while intensifying the green luminescence of the staff.
As a finished Cosplay photoshoot, my goal was to fully convey the character's signature aura, and I hope everyone appreciates the detailed charm of this styling. Though early prep and shooting took considerable energy, seeing the re-edited final results made every effort worthwhile. I hope this Golden Lion Cosplay brings everyone a refreshing visual experience.
