Sharing the official photoshoot for Rise Kujikawa cosplay today! Rise-chin from Persona 4 / Persona 4 Reload has always been a character I desperately wanted to challenge myself to portray, and I have finally brought this iconic styling to life in full.

Let's start with the hair. To faithfully recreate Rise's signature reddish-auburn twin-tails, I spent plenty of time trimming and setting the wig beforehand. Her hair is naturally voluminous, so when styling it, I specifically teased and elevated the roots to give it three-dimensional fullness, preventing it from clinging flatly against the scalp. The curves of the sideburns and bangs were carefully trimmed step-by-step according to the original character design sheets to ensure a playful yet delicate impression before the camera.

Regarding makeup, the eye styling was a major focal point. To match her idol aura, I used a pink-toned eyeshadow base layered with subtle glitter, while defining the outer corners. Blush was swept slightly higher beneath the lower eyelids to cultivate a softly flushed, adorable glow. For the lips, I selected a dewy, glossy lip tint to channel vibrant youthful vitality. The contact lenses were chosen in a light hazel-brown tone so they would catch ambient lighting with an organic, translucent shimmer.

For the wardrobe, I picked the classic black-and-yellow sailor suit. The white piping and yellow trim details along the collar, along with the signature round emblem on the chest, were all faithfully replicated. Layered underneath is a crisp white high-neck inner shirt, paired with a necktie made from smooth satin that holds rich luster and forms a full, neat knot. The fabric has clean, structured tailoring, instantly giving the wearer an alert, refreshed posture.

When posing to capture diverse moods, I explored several distinct angles: one was an upright standing perspective for direct, frontal framing; another was a reclining angle with one hand resting naturally over the necktie, which felt much closer to a casual, everyday slice of life. Although Rise is an idol, she has many quiet, relaxed moments off-duty. Through the lens, I wanted to capture that authentic, unforced state rather than just her standard stage-ready smile. Standing before the mirror or facing the camera, there was no exaggerated posing—just candidly documenting the genuine feeling of wearing this outfit. Every cosplay process involves countless trivial steps from pre-production to the actual shoot, yet seeing the finished selects makes it completely worthwhile. I also adore the natural lighting and soft-focus effects this time, which avoided excessive processing to preserve true skin texture.

A few extra takeaways from the shoot: with this sailor suit, the collar is quite structured, so keeping shoulders relaxed is crucial to avoid looking stiff or cramped. The positioning of the twin-tails on the wig also required micro-adjustments, as placing them too far forward or back disrupts facial balance. In terms of expression control, as a member of the Investigation Team on top of being an idol, Rise possesses both a bright, bubbly energy and a sharp, perceptive sensitivity. While shooting, I kept my gaze calm and relaxed without forcing a wide smile, letting quiet stories linger in the eyes to reflect someone who stands under the spotlight yet fiercely holds onto her own convictions inside. For the backdrop, I opted for a minimalist interior setting—clean white walls, a door, and gentle fabric drapes—steering clear of busy set pieces so visual focus remained squarely on the costume and character. In Anime cosplay and Sailor suit cosplay, more props aren't necessarily better; often, a clean frame makes the character's core traits stand out far better. I hope this photo set conveys my understanding of her character. That's all for today's share—hope you all enjoy these shots! If opportunities arise later, I might try her other outfits or take on other characters from Persona 4.
