[Suzuran Cosplay] The Nine-Tailed Fox Deep in the Forest, Bringing a Basket and Owl to Meet You

Stepping into this towering woodland with a heavy set of gear, thick dead leaves beneath my feet, and fresh air smelling of soil and greenery—the whole atmosphere feels tailored specifically for this Arknights Suzuran Ode to Spring skin. Although the outfit itself isn't particularly heavy, maintaining balance in this uneven terrain with nine tails behind me, plus a staff and basket in hand, required quite a bit of effort.

Apart from the nine voluminous, fluffy tails, the part of this styling that satisfies me most is the outfit's layered texture. The cream-white fluffy cardigan inner layer is tied with a bright red bow at the collar, giving the overall color palette a striking focal point. The lower half features a light blue long skirt stitched with multi-tiered white lace trim; as I walk, the skirt hem sways gently, though there's no worry about exposure since the fluffy tails form a natural barrier behind me. On my feet, white lace socks pair with thick-soled black chunky-heeled leather shoes—a combination that not only elongates leg proportions visually but also provides a sturdy foothold in the damp woodland so I don't sink into the soft humus soil.

The prop coordination was equally thoughtful: the basket, owl plushie, and wisteria staff are all iconic elements from the Ode to Spring skin. Especially that big, round-eyed owl—nestled inside the basket, it genuinely feels like a magical companion keeping watch over the forest. Photographer Dongzirou was adept at capturing interactions between the props and myself on set, so I tried a variety of poses to harmonize with these elements.

During the shoot, I intentionally tried several angles that best highlighted the strengths of this gear. In one frontal standing photo, I lightly rested both hands on the basket while facing the lens, as the nine tails behind me fanned out plushly to the sides and overhead. Combined with golden long hair and animal ears, the frame overflowed with magical tension. When shooting full-body shots like this, I paid careful attention to calf lines and shoes, as the contrast between white socks and black leather shoes often elevates the overall refinement in such styling. Bending one knee slightly while standing adds a playful touch, while the back-view shot was equally intriguing—capturing from the back of the head down to the tails and ankles, showcasing the plush, thick volume that truly serves as the essence of this look.

The forest's natural lighting served as the finest photographer; sunbeams filtering through leaves lit my blonde hair into a brilliant glow. We avoided complicated artificial setups, using only a reflector to lift shadows on my face while preserving the clear, luminous colors of the environment. During the photoshoot, trailing vines and tree trunks formed perfect natural picture frames, lending every photograph a fairytale storybook quality. While an outdoor Forest photoshoot demands far more stamina than studio shoots—requiring me to carry heavy props and navigate dense foliage—it is precisely this genuine interaction that infuses the photos with vibrant vitality.

Honestly, wearing this ensemble—especially when turning around to reveal the tails—I couldn't help but imagine what it would feel like to actually wander through a forest with such massive tails. Though wearing the waist harness to support the tails made my back sore over time, seeing how fluffy and full of life they looked in the final images brought immense satisfaction. That's likely the core magic of Nine-tailed fox cosplay: allowing us to temporarily step out of reality, embody a completely different character, and embark on a unique adventure. Whether it's the delicate lace trimmings or the heavy props, every detail reflects my devotion to this character and outfit.
