[Wishadel cosplay] Arknights: The Peculiar Good mental state of a Kazdelian Child

For this shoot, the character was set as Wishadel. Rather than aiming solely for conventional aesthetic beauty, the goal was to pull off a Comedy cosplay meme combining the infamous 'cheese cockroach' and Abstract art elements from the community. To align with the lore of a Kazdelian child standing aboard Rhodes Island, I brainstormed for a long time on how to capture that peak, chaotic Good mental state. In the end, I decided to utilize two starkly contrasting props: a Xinhua Dictionary and a tablet. The first photo shows serious studying, while the second depicts balancing the dictionary on my head while looking down at the tablet—this tongue-in-cheek study posture created a hilarious contrast.

Many challenges arose during the shoot. Translating this character's look into reality is quite demanding: styling the white wig with red highlights took extensive effort, and the red horn props needed to stay firmly fixed without looking unnatural. To preserve that cool, nonchalant vibe in the frame, I had to balance the dictionary on my head while keeping my gaze glued to the screen and ensuring my hands looked natural. To nail the Comedy cosplay vibe, I relied on post-processing for the complete visual effect. Retouching a real face into a stylized 2D anime look is actually quite grueling, requiring repetitive adjustments to facial contours and color tones to match the character's silhouette while finding the sweet spot between filters and makeup.

The red dictionary on the desk was dug out from home, perfectly suiting that scholarly student vibe in the photo. Meanwhile, the posture of clutching the tablet was a total tribute to my unhinged Good mental state. Many assume pulling off Abstract art humor is just a whim, but it actually demands thorough preparation behind the scenes—scrutinizing character traits while tackling challenges with costumes, wigs, and lighting. The core of capturing this peak mental state was conveying that sense of 'I know I'm completely unhinged and abstract, but I'm loving every second of it.' Adding an album-like 'PARENTAL ADVISORY' label to the bottom-right corner further highlighted this utterly untamed, rebellious soul.

Coming back to the joke 'I will never do Abstract art memes again'—it's an honest commentary on my Good mental state throughout the shoot. Ascending to the realm of the 'god of abstract comedy' takes vastly more energy than a conventional, polished cosplay shoot. You have to control expressions, calibrate poses, and constantly check that post-edits don't turn out too bizarre. Nonetheless, being able to express the lore sentiment of a Kazdelian child standing aboard Rhodes Island in such a unique way made the exhausting process immensely fun. As a soul-infused Comedy cosplay project, I did my best to balance faithful recreation with comedic spoofing, hoping viewers appreciate not just the costume's exterior, but also the satire and gaming passion embedded within. All in all, this was a rare and rewarding endeavor—for the sheer inner joy it brought, every ounce of effort was completely worthwhile.
