[Arknights Wcos] Shenzhen AD04 Convention Photos of Patent Leather Outfit under Bright Sunlight

The outdoor lighting at Shenzhen AD04 combined with this black patent leather combat outfit provided a striking visual contrast throughout these poses. Under strong venue sunlight, patent leather surfaces generate intense specular reflections, which is actually a double-edged sword for photography. To suppress glare and highlight the crisp lines of the outfit, I discussed with the photographer beforehand to choose side-backlighting and hard direct light sources as much as possible, allowing the shiny patent surface to form clear geometric edges that enhance the overall three-dimensional look of the patent leather outfit.

The upper portion of this outfit is quite complex, featuring a zippered collar structured with a large metal ring. The horizontal leather straps and metal buckles across the chest visually enhance the armored and uniform design feel. The cold-shoulder sleeves and black-and-red spliced panels echo the red and black bow ornament on the headpiece. Under outdoor sunlight, the white hair strands naturally transmit light; to prevent frizzy ends, I used a bit of hairspray during styling to achieve a slightly messy yet airy silhouette.

The layering on the lower half is created by a black pleated miniskirt, stockings, thigh straps, and over-the-knee high-heeled boots. Part of the visual focus of this design lands on the legs, where the matte texture of the stockings contrasts with the patent leather boots, working together with the thigh straps to create a flattering leg-lengthening effect from various camera angles. Especially in sitting and crouching shots, the boots' high heels and form-fitting design add tremendous visual appeal on camera.

Regarding headwear, a lot of thought went into securing the pair of black-and-red horn-like decorations. To prevent them from falling off during frequent head turns, dedicated anchor points were sewn directly into the wig's inner mesh. Under venue sunlight, the reflective edges of these horn ornaments visually mirror the texture of the patent leather outfit.

The white sheet-like prop held in hand serves as a bright highlight against the overall dark color palette. It not only eliminates awkward hand placements but also guides the viewer's eye whenever raised during poses. In the photos, I experimented with holding the prop while kneeling on one knee, crouching, and sitting.

Walking around the venue in these over-the-knee high-heeled boots was by no means easy. The shoes themselves are stiff, and the snug leg fit leaves almost no room for ankle movement, so during static posing, I had to deliberately shift my center of gravity onto the supporting leg to maintain a stable visual effect. The sitting pose shown where my right hand supports me on the ground and my left leg extends forward demands significant core strength and flexibility, as it can easily look limp without proper engagement.

Outfits made of highly reflective materials definitely require prep work before shooting. Patent leather easily attracts dust, so I wiped it down with wet wipes before starting to ensure a slick, glossy sheen under the sun. Furthermore, staying outdoors for extended periods revealed poor breathability, causing my undershirt to get soaked with sweat. To avoid affecting the shoot, I prepared absorbent tissues and a small portable fan to use during breaks.

The convention venue was quite crowded, which limited our options for finding a suitable shooting spot. Luckily, outside the Shenzhen AD04 hall, there was a relatively spacious area with striped shadows. Sunlight filtered through the overhead architectural structures, casting alternating light-and-dark striped patterns on the ground that added natural compositional elements to the photos. During the shoot, to ensure crisp and decisive poses, I repeated the same stance multiple times. The inner surface of the patent leather gloves rubbing against skin took some effort, but every detail was worth overcoming for the final result. These convention photos successfully captured the garment's sheen, red-and-black palette, and overall combat style.
