This fox-themed makeup and costume look took a whole night of tinkering in the studio. Fueled by the post-shoot excitement, I've compiled a few behind-the-scenes shots that I'm really happy with. The overall visual weight is focused on the structural design of the upper body. The deep blue wig features loose, voluminous braids which, paired with the stiff fox ears, have a distinct framing effect on the face. To fit the "Onee-san / Mature woman" vibe, the makeup highlights the expression of the eyes and brows; the eyeshadow is blended with a slight upward lift, and the markings on both cheeks echo the vibrant red lip color, making the face look sharper under the lens. The costume was provided by Idealism, featuring a color-blocked patchwork of red, white, and purple combined with metallic gold borders, adding immense detail to an otherwise basic cut. The off-the-shoulder sleeves could easily make the shoulders look wide, but through the flow of the movements, they instead bring out the airiness of the outfit and enhance the posture. The set design this time is relatively cold and crisp, combining a wooden bridge, water surface, white plum blossom branches, and rocks to create a zen-like Chinese atmosphere. The natural reflections on the water add layers to the frame. Combined with the studio's main light striking down from the upper side, the fabric textures of the clothing and the luster of the wig are beautifully defined. The ultimate challenge of this styling lies in the Nine-tailed fox setup on the back. The four massive white tails are made of a very thick material with plenty of fluffiness, but during the entire shoot, I had to constantly adjust the angles to prevent them from getting squished or deformed. Installing and combing them also took quite a bit of effort. However, looking at the final photos, the fluffy texture forms a brilliant contrast with the darker background. Trading a night of sleep for this set of behind-the-scenes shots is completely worth it; running around the studio to adjust poses was exhausting, but bringing these design details to life is precisely the great joy of cosplay. The light control and emotional expression of the entire set are spot on, and I'm sharing this with friends who love this style as well.
