This set of photos for Yu Linglong in her Unrestrained Spring look from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT is finally retouched. The shoot took about half a month of preparation, primarily aimed at recreating that soft, pink, dreamy aura of the character. To accentuate the unique characteristics of this Unrestrained Spring attire, we spent extensive time planning beforehand, deciding on vintage pink monogram wallpaper and checkered tile flooring as our backdrop. During the session, an oversized brown teddy bear and pink gift boxes served as props to enrich the overall composition. For makeup, pink-toned contouring and glitter eyeshadow were applied to complement the bunny-ear styling. The outfit is crafted from translucent white lace that truly tests camera angles, leading us to experiment with diverse lighting schemes. The first photo chosen for the cover features a seated pose with legs extended forward, which elongates the leg proportions while emphasizing the intricate design of the outfit. The second photo features curled, crossed legs, projecting a softer, more well-behaved presence. Throughout the shoot, the photographer coached me to regulate breathing and center of gravity, as maintaining that languid yet subtly playful expression is quite physically demanding. Posing barefoot on the carpet meant constantly brushing off loose fuzz and debris between takes. Post-processing largely preserved the authentic pink tones without overusing filters, keeping the skin looking fresh and translucent. Portraying this character reinforced how much thought goes into character fashion in NARAKA: BLADEPOINT—from lace thickness to sheer layering, every detail adds visual depth that one can truly appreciate when cosplaying up close. To accommodate the height of the large bear and gift boxes, I continually adjusted my seated stances, shifting between extended and curled poses across countless angle tests. The halter neck cut and sheer overlapping tulle required careful control of direct and reflected light; we dedicated significant effort to lighting, using softboxes and reflectors to ensure balanced, even skin tones. As an archive of my 2D lifestyle, this set captures numerous delicate behind-the-scenes moments. Pink hair paired with white bunny ears photographed wonderfully, radiating maidenly charm. Though the shoot was time-intensive, seeing the finished stills made it feel completely worthwhile—a truly delightful cosplay journey. The harmony of sheer white fabrics with pink hair is stunning, and under the studio's soft lighting, stepping into character felt instantaneous, capturing that lively, coquettish charm from the game. For this project, I contacted the studio early to verify the color codes of the backdrop paper and rugs to lock down this authentic pink tone. While this setup looks purely dreamlike, managing the bulky props took real work—the bear was massive, the gift boxes were huge, and we repositioned them repeatedly for optimal framing. Makeup-wise, Yu Linglong's look is inherently refined, so the eyebrows were kept slender and the eyeliner flicked slightly upward, accented with pink shadows and glitter to highlight her expression. Dressing was intricate, particularly smoothing out the sheer layers to prevent creasing. In terms of perspective, we adopted low upward angles to flatter leg lines in seated postures. I explored various emotions during the shoot—sometimes smiling into the lens, other times looking down thoughtfully—ultimately selecting these two frames with the most natural expressions. The first features a lean-back with extended legs, channeling effortless relaxation; the second has curled, crossed legs, exuding quiet reserve. This contrast adds wonderful nuance to the set. For anyone passionate about cosplay, bringing a beloved character to life is both a tribute to the source and a process of self-expression. We avoided excessive digital alterations in post-production to preserve raw textures and amplify this pink ambiance to the fullest. I hope this dedicated preparation showcases the unique allure of Yu Linglong. This experience taught me many new shooting techniques, and I look forward to creating more evocative works next time.
