Bringing Ichinose Asuna's Qipao styling to life took about half a month from initial preparation to the actual shoot. When I first received the costume, the pleasant surprise was the blue-and-white Qipao fabric itself—it is quite substantial in weight, casting a soft, silk-like sheen under studio lighting. The golden traditional frog buttons and piped trim along the mandarin collar are exceptionally refined, and the metallic pendant resting at the chest carries solid heft without feeling cheap. To mirror that cool yet languidly effortless temperament, I tested multiple pairs of colored contacts before settling on a highly saturated ice blue; paired with diffused rose-pink eyeshadow, the finished look aligned seamlessly with the original illustrations.
The wig presented a substantial challenge. The cascading silver-gray locks have immense volume, requiring not only teasing for lift but also continuous smoothing to prevent tangling during movement. The blue-and-white halo headpiece was crafted from a combination of high-density EVA foam and acrylic sheeting. Once mounted onto its base, it was surprisingly heavy, requiring numerous bobby pins anchored firmly into the wig cap to ensure it remained steady throughout the session. Draping the thick white fur stole over my shoulders maximized upper-body visual volume. In the air-conditioned venue, the plush wrap served as an unexpected hand-warmer, though detangling stray hairs from the fur afterward took considerable patience.
The location was set in the ground concourse of a massive exhibition center, where soaring steel trusses and orderly rows of overhead industrial lamps provided a cold, architectural backdrop. The photographer set up a primary key light alongside two rim lights to sculpt my silhouette cleanly off the shadowy environment. I brought along a white metal folding ladder to serve as a high stool; perching on it allowed the camera to adopt a slight low-angle view looking upward, which elongated the visual leg lines to the greatest possible extent.
For posing, keeping the character's core demeanor in mind, I deliberately avoided overly sweet smiles, leaning instead into slightly lowered eyelids and a distant, unfocused gaze. Hand placements remained understated—resting one hand lightly across my knee while lifting the other toward my jawline to project an unguarded yet subtly distant presence. Below, the semi-sheer white Stockings paired with pastel blue platform stilettos cleanly flattered the contours of the legs. Holding the crossed-leg pose with pointed insteps atop four-inch slender heels for extended stretches caused intense numbness, requiring quick breaks to shake off the stiffness before moving forward.
Reviewing the complete set, from the tactile garment materials and prop craftsmanship to the atmospheric lighting synergy, I am thoroughly satisfied. This blend of opulent elegance with modern stylistic accents carries versatile expressive power across both motion and stillness, making for a truly complete and rewarding cosplay journey.
