[Kuonji Alice cosplay] Witch on the Holy Night: A Serene Magus in a White studio

High-key White studio shooting posed quite a challenge when bringing Kuonji Alice to life. While a pure white cyclorama is clean, it is exceptionally unforgiving with makeup smoothness, as there are no background elements to divert attention—every imperfection gets magnified. To match the canon lore of her porcelain-pale, extremely fair complexion, dialing in the foundation took a long time; this, paired with the stark contrast between jet-black hair and red eye makeup, formed the very soul of this styling.

Before shooting, I carefully prepped the entire ensemble. The black high-neck knit sweater fit snugly; under even lighting, this texture projects a matte, premium feel. For bottoms, I wore a black-and-white Houndstooth skirt with pleats, which required meticulous steaming and smoothing to maintain a flawless flared silhouette while moving. Styled with completely opaque Black stockings and patent leather flats, the vintage charm and cool, reserved elegance emerged instantly.

Because the studio floor was also white, the leg contours accentuated by the pitch-black stockings stood out remarkably, making camera positioning and angles vital. In the first full-body shot, we intentionally lowered the camera angle to highlight slender leg proportions, with a hand-to-chin gesture that looks demure yet carries a subtle trace of scrutiny. The second half-body photo shifted focus toward facial expressions and the delicate gesture of fingertips lightly brushing the necklace—this quiet serenity flowing through the fingertips matches the character's temperament perfectly.

Reviewing the raw shots, I was repeatedly struck by the unique aesthetic of the red eyeshadow in the White studio. Pure black and pure white formed the dominant palette of this set, leaving only the red in the eyes striking and prominent; this minimalist color scheme truly puts one's physical expression to the test. Facing the camera, I continuously strived to maintain focused detachment in my gaze, which granted me a deeper resonance with Alice Kuonji's inner world in Witch on the Holy Night. During the shoot, we adjusted the Houndstooth skirt folds and necklace angles countless times; to preserve a pristine silhouette, even the rhythm of breathing had to be controlled. Although changing poses repeatedly was tiring, seeing how flawlessly the tactile contrast between the Black stockings and the Houndstooth skirt turned out in the final photos made every effort worthwhile. The even lighting in the White studio showcased every nuanced styling detail to the fullest—as an exploration of Kuonji Alice cosplay, it was a thoroughly rewarding experience.
