The shooting concept for today's photo set is actually to capture a fresh and natural vibe of the early summer season. To match this theme, I specially selected this classic JK uniform. The off-white short-sleeved sailor top features a clean cut, and the brown bow on the chest is the finishing touch, perfectly breaking the monotony of the large area of white. The lower body is paired with a grey-blue pleated skirt, creating a natural wave-like feel on the hem when walking. To add layers, I wore a wide-brimmed straw hat with a ribbon and carried a bright blue shoulder bag whose color echoes the blue flowers in the background. On my legs, I wore white stockings, paired with brown loafers. The overall color tone is very comfortable, and it visually elongates the leg proportions.
When choosing the outdoor location, we intentionally found a courtyard with green wooden architecture and lush plants. The green cabin behind carries a fairytale-like atmosphere, surrounded by blue-purple flowers and rich vegetation layers. The light on the shooting day was a bit subtle; I asked the photographer to make the most of the mottled light and shadow filtering through the leaves, avoiding the harsh direct light of noon. Since these photos are intended as a drawing reference, the softness of light and shadow is extremely crucial—too strong shadows would mask the texture of the clothing and the structural lines of the human body.
In terms of action design, I didn't do overly exaggerated poses. I gently raised my right hand to hold the brim of the hat, and my left hand naturally grabbed the strap of the shoulder bag. This not only showcases the lines of the arms but also makes the cut of the top look more three-dimensional. Slightly bending the left knee to take a step forward with the center of gravity on the back foot, this posture allows the pleats of the pleated skirt to spread out naturally, while also nicely displaying the edge of the white stockings and the smoothness of the legs. For the gaze, I chose to look calmly at the lens without too many expressions, in order to maintain an overall cool yet slightly daily life atmosphere in the picture.
In fact, shooting this kind of early summer photoshoot intended as a drawing reference is not about pursuing some ultimate dynamism, but rather about clearly conveying the details of the clothing, the proportions of the character, and the environmental light and shadow within a static setting. From the arc of the wig and the folding of the collar to the undulations of the skirt hem, every detail needs to be carefully confirmed before shooting. This set of photos didn't deliberately imitate a specific anime character, but rather aimed to present a manga-like, aesthetic everyday feeling. When the breeze truly blew across the courtyard and the petals and skirt hem swayed gently together, I knew that moment was perfectly captured. I hope this set of early summer light and shadow can bring some creative inspiration to everyone.
